Sons of God

The succubus reference is inappropriate.

The holy spirit begat Jesus, himself, upon Mary.
Fallen angels begat children upon human women.
Angel means messenger.
We imagine these fallen messengers were etherial. However, that they felt lust and helped women conceive a race of giants leads to envisioning flesh and blood beings.

Jesus was holy spirit in the flesh. It isn't impossible fallen angels were in the flesh precisely due to their being cast from heaven.
The Holy Spirit is Jesus! Father? I thought that was God the Father.

Does it really matter if it was a week or 8 days? Or if the door was shut or locked. The passage in NKJ uses the word 'shut'. The ESV uses the word "locked'. It's not a matter of doctrine.

Now if a person says that the earth Couldn't have been created in the 6 days and 24 hr days because it's just not Reasonable is to not trust the reliability Of what God is stating Did Happen. God is Telling us in Genesis exactly how He Created this world and How He did it and in the Time Frame that it took place. And That rules out the concept of evolutionary thinking. And God's omnipotence is being questioned.

And the Fact that Jesus Christ rose from the dead on the 3rd day Does matter. It didn't take place on the 2nd or 4th day. Though I've never heard anyone arguing that point. Now there Is the disagreement regarding Sabboth or 1st Day of the week / the Lord's day Worship. Those who feel led to stay with the Old Testament Sabboth day of rest / worship of God AND those who change to honoring the resurrection of Jesus Christ on 1st day of the week. The point Being -- make sure a person Does take one day To rest - worship God. But we Also need to realize that the economy doesn't cooperate with that . If a person works for a business that goes 7 days a week with shift work -- a person attends church when their work shift allows. And even Nowdays -- coming out of COVID -- employment is questionable at best. We Need to take time To Worship God. with fellow believers.

So -- yes, some things Are important and some things Aren't. Doctrine is Vital -- other things can be given 'wiggle room'.

Some people are Strong KJV and others are Strong NAS and Others Won't use the Older NIV Or the newer ESV. And lots of us use the NKJ.
Now suppose translators were sloppy on Genesis and said God Created After 8 days. Would that be Ok. If it's ok in one place why not another? To you who knows the Bible you can point out the error. But what someone who knows nothing of the Bible. They probably won't even notice an error.

It amazes me that so many quote their translations as if "it" is inspired and yet when we have a discrepancy between translations suddenly it doesn't matter. We really should be consistent if we want anyone to take us seriously. This is one of the reasons the lost reject the church. Too much inconsistency.

Huh?

John 16:7; Nevertheless I tell you the truth. It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to you.

The Holy Spirit is not Jesus, and the Holy Spirit could not come unless Jesus left.

John 7:39; But this He spoke concerning the Spirit, whom those believing in Him would receive; for the Holy Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.

Luke 3:22; And the Holy Spirit descended in bodily form like a dove upon Him, and a voice came from heaven which said, "You are My beloved Son; in You I am well pleased."

You can't descend upon yourself.

Acts 1:8; But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth."
Acts 1:9; Now when He had spoken these things, while they watched, He was taken up, and a cloud received Him out of their sight.

Yes the Father is God also.

I didn't say the Holy Spirit was Jesus. The statement was that the Holy Spirit begat Jesus. I thought it was the Father who begat Jesus. It seems to me that that's why He's called the Father. If the Holy Spirit (third person of the Trinity) begat Jesus then the Holy Spirit would be Jesus' Father.

It doesn't matter whether He went through a wall or a door. What matters is how He got there. Read post 98 and you'll see just what I mean. Many believe Jesus could go through walls with His "resurrected body". From this they conclude that they too, will he able to go through walls with their "resurrected body". However, if, on the other hand, God miraculously put Him there, then He couldn't go through walls with His "resurrected body" and as such Christians won't be able to do it either.

This is how erroneous teachings start. Someone misunderstands something in the Scriptures, draws a conclusion, and then forms a belief based on that conclusion. Often that belief becomes the basis for other beliefs and before we know it people are out in left field.

Now, I think the reasonable person would look at this passage and say, I don't know how He got there. It could be, as some have suggested, that He had the ability to walk through matter. However, it could also be that God miraculously put Him there. We simply don't know. But, I think when we say this is the way it happened, we are in danger of being wrong and then subject to further error based on the first error.

That's why I think it matters
Since Jesus is God, Jesus is able to appear at will.

I think Butch meant to say in post #101 " Jesus' " not " Jesus! "

@ Butch5 -- the trinity = God the Father, Jesus Christ His Son and the Holy Spirit.

They co-exist , have always been. Eternal.

God is not the Father because He's a parent to Jesus Christ being the Son of God.

Going back to your post #102.

Well -- the translators were Not 'sloppy' in Genesis -- God said 6 days / 24hr days and resting on the 7 th day. Your supposition is pointless -- Scripture does not state 8 days.

There Is no error in that point. Do you know anything about the process Of translation from one language to another. Not 'sloppy' translation simply because no two languages have the same alphabet. Going from English to spanish or via versa -- a lot of the alphabets are similar but English has more letters than Spanish does. So a person comes as close as possible to get the correct word / thought / concept that is understandable to the other person. Do you know how much of our literature has come from other countries and has been translated so we can understand them.

God's Word IS inspired -- no mistakes Period. It IS THE Truth.

A Lot of times , it's not the translation -- but it's what God's Word Says that people don't like. And there are those who will take any opportunity they can to discredit God's Word because it doesn't agree with Their perception of what it Should say.

Doesn't sound like You take 'us' seriously. Sounds like maybe You reject the Church -- churches are full of people -- 'we' tend to be inconsistant which is why 'we' Need God's Word in our lives every day. God's Word does Not change. We need the stabilization Of God's Word.

Always amazed at folks who take on the name of the Lord' in vain by calling themselves, His children strive to water down His Word .

I still have to ask....Why do Christians always INSIST that angels are spirits? There is no evidence of that...Jerry....You know about evidence....Where is the evidence of angels being spirits? I'm open to learn people! Surprise! :innocent:

The situation with Mary and the Holy Spirit would not have been done is such a way of course, God the Holy Spirit would have access to the seed of life as it comes from God, not from man. And fallen angels are corrupted, they will do anything regardless of how bad it is to accomplish their purpose.
As to fallen angels becoming flesh and blood humans, well thats on you, your assumption, not mine. I have nothing I have read or inspired by the Holy Spirit that tells me that happened.
Plenty of verses inform the Christian reader angels are able to assume human form.
Lot's visitors were also another example of this fact.

Genesis 6.
Genesis 18.

Why do those who, by their errant statements that prove they've not read the Bible think to challenge Christians who have.
Psalm 104:4
Since Jesus is God, Jesus is able to appear at will.
Jesus is Holy Spirit (God).

Bunny I just read those two chapters again.....Where does it say the angels took human form....Or are Christians assuming that? I think we tend to assume they did that...I find no place in the bible that says angels do not have solid bodies....I see that they have certain abilities though. I see that they have a different kind of body, because of what they can do.

Genesis 6:4 Orthodox Jewish Version

4.HaNefilim were on ha’aretz in those yamim; and also after that, when the bnei HaElohim came in unto the banot HaAdam, and they bore children to them, the same became gibborim which were of old, men of renown.

NET Version:
4.The Nephilim[l] were on the earth in those days (and also after this)[m] when the sons of God would sleep with[n] the daughters of humankind, who gave birth to their children.[o] They were the mighty heroes[p] of old, the famous men.[q

Footnotes verse 4:
I think if someone takes the time to read just the linked footnotes in verse 4 the confusion that leads some to think Angels are not being referred to, yet again, in that chapter will abate.

Genesis 18

Most every studied Christian remembers the story of how God sent three Angels to tell Abraham of the plans of God for him and his wife Sarah.

Still, there is no place that says the angels changed form.....It's an assumption on our part then.

Angels have assumed human form -- they were created by God for His purposes. There are some messenger angels -- some cherubim -- some archangels. Michael and Gabriel are two mentioned in Scripture.

People do not become angels when the die.
