Never read the whole book before, it's quite amazing, I was totally blown away by it.
God wants His absolute best for us in our relationships, Song of Songs makes this abundantly clear.
The love God wants for us, in our relationships, is fiery, passionate and all consuming.
Love this book and the fact that God is it's author. I think every teen should read this, so that they know
that God does not want second best for them but His best!!!!!
Gotta admit, it's truths are still being absorbed into my spirit.
This verse really stood out for me, it is repeated several times:
Song of Songs 2:7
"Daughters of Jerusalem, I charge you
by the gazelles and by the does of the field:
Do not arouse or awaken love"

Haven't read this particular one in a while. I will though, great book. It doesn't hold back from the intimate details of an intimate relationship between a husband and wife, as God intended marriage to be.

That's what I love about it, that's this is how God wants our marriage relationship to be and I think that is phenomenal!!!

  • Scripturally, the Song of Songs is unusual that it makes no mention of "Law" or "Covenant", and this is the Old Testament! Nor does it refer toYahweh, the God of Israel. And it does not explore "wisdom" in the manner of Proverbs or Ecclesiastes, just celebrates sexual love within the bounds of marriage, between a man and a woman I might add!
  • This is not in line with your thread but I also love this about the Songs of Solomon. Aside, from worshiping the same God, the Song of Songs is beautiful and it forever binds us to the orthodox Jew, because this is one of their favorite books a well!

It's an unusual book to be sure and very powerful in it's description of love between a man and a woman.
I never knew that "orthodox Jews" favored this book, I think that's great!!!!

It is the picture of the Bridegroom and His bride....... although she is not worthy He seeks her out and lavishes her with all His love. She expresses over and over again her faults and He continues to carry His banner before her and seats her at the banquet with Him ........This is Christ and His bride.
.
Lord we are Your church
The bride prepared for You
Nothings borrowed
Nothings blue
Nothings old
All is new
Clothed in linen
Pure and white
Pleasing fragrance
Beautiful sight
Shes the bride prepared
For the Lords delight
She longs to be taken home
