Signs and wonders - Bethel, California

The church I attend have had several people travel to Bethel, California which is where Bill Johnson preaches and they have come back very excited about what is happening there. There are accounts of feathers falling from the ceiling, and gold dust and gem stones appearing. Also, I understand that there are many miraculous healings.

Does anyone have any understanding or insight into Bill Johnson's teachings? I have tried reading one of his books but just couldn't get into it at the moment.

I know that we are not to go after signs and wonders, but at our church there is so much excitement and I am not sure how to respond to what is happening. At church we had a 'fire tunnel' with people who had had impartation from Bethel impart to us as we walked through the line of people who had had connections there. People prayed for me when I went through and I was a bit 'wobbly' afterwards.

I know that Bill Johnson is coming to Southampton, England this April and I would like to see him for myself, but to be honest I am not sure that I can afford the price of the ticket - it seems quite expensive and I wonder why it has to be such a high price.

I have to say that as I am writing this, I feel a sense of disloyalty towards my leadership. Dear saints, if you think I ought to speak with them first before seeking information on this forum then please do say. It's just that they are so FOR Bethel and what's happening and the only thing I know about what the Bible says is that many people will be deceived in the end times.

Why pay to see bill when you can hang out with Jesus for free?

Personally I would steer clear of anyone connected with the Kansas City prophetic (pathetic) circle.

Amazing what folks will fall for, and as jiggy said "pay for"! Is there no such thing as having the slightest common sense anymore?

As my pastor so wisely puts it, "Christianity does not require you to check your brain at the door." Your caution is a commendable thing. Some months ago I read a rather lengthy article in a Christian magazine about this man and his church. As I began reading, I got excited about what was being reported, but, as I continued to read and reflect I felt a check in my spirit, an overall suspicion that something just wasn't right. I couldn 't put my finger on it, but it seemed like the Holy Spirit was saying "Be careful."I am a firm believer that God is still backing up the preaching of His Word with signs and wonders, but I'm equally convinced that He's not into gaudy showmanship.

I suggest you Google Bill Johnson or Bethel Church - Redding, California and check out the referenced links. Perhaps you'll get some clarification one way or the other from them.

I have had this gold dust and glory dust thing happen to me a few times in my room while I was alone and praying/worshiping. No human being touched me nor did it have anything to do with the Kansas City circle. It happened very far away from Kansas City in fact. It happened in India.

Bill Johnston!

Living in England I have met this Brother only on a Christian T.V. looking for somthing to watch for a while, rather than the offering afforded by National T.V. Stations.

I was blessed as I listened, and I have listened to Bill Winston numerous times since then. His exposition from the scripture imparted faith in God, and I was encouraged in Jesus.

I am aware that he has grown a church from nothing to 1000s in Chicago. He started as a student at the Oral Roberts University.

Oral Roberts came to Wales in 1963. I attended the Rugby Ground hired for the visit. I saw more miricles there than ever before or since in my lifetime.

I am not familiar with the There are accounts of feathers falling from the ceiling, and gold dust and gem stones appearing..

But I recall Jesus spitting on the ground and making a paste to put on blind eyes. Very unusual!

It is not uncommon to have to buy a ticket or give a "love offering" when a stadium has to be rented and paid for.
I just looked at a you-tube video of Bill and he seems to be really in love with Jesus, has a heart for the lost and, seeking God for His will. Over the years I have indeed witnessed some incredible happenings when God chose to move.
I cannot say much more than this; what I have seen so far of him seems to be genuine.

Bill Johnson is genuine. His mentor John Wimber was genuine. That's because the Gifts of the Holy Spirit (see 1 Cor 12: 4-11) have not ceased as many seem to believe. God is still in the miracle working business.

Very good! I will be looking for more on this and look forward to what I find.
The Holy Spirit does indeed still move today- the nine gifts, the nine fruits, these have never been needed more.
