Should We Followed The Majority?

Member
Is the majority right?

Whenever we challenge the mainstream teaching on some doctrine, we always tend to get a number of people staying.. "Well, this has been the belief of the majority fore centuries, it must be right. I'm not going to go along with just a few who believe differently. It's the majority that have the truth."

So I thought I would take a look in to the Bible and see if this statement is correct or not, and what did I find? The Bible shows us the complete opposite. Take a look:
MAJORITY OR FEW?
In the days of Noa, who had the truth? The majority or the few? It was the few, as only 8 people were saved from the flood.

Now think about this carefully. The days of Noah wasn't far from creation, so there must been MANY people who 'believe' in God. There are various thoughts on how many people were living in the time of Noah. Some say millions some say even Billions. And yet only 8 people have the truth and were saved.

Let we go together to find out which group of people was right. The Majority or the Few.

You only have to look at the RCC and all their errors to know following the majority is wrong.

I hate it when people say 'Everyone loves football, or Everyone goes to clubs, or Everyone does this or that'

Everyone doesn't

If we follow the sheep we will be like lemmings dropping into a lake of fire.

If 90% of people do not accept Christ (example) is it right to follow the sheep without a shepherd? No.

Jesus says

Matthew 7:13-14 (NKJV)
13 "Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it.
14 Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.

Yes, but Jesus is also called a lamb.

Believing has never been the problem, because God gives "faith" to those who choose to want to believe!

An un-believer is someone who knows the truth, but has made a conscience decision to not believe what he knows to be true!

Tit 2:11 For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,

Joh 3:18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
Joh 3:19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.

The majority can be right at times. But then at other times, the majority can be wrong. This is why you should never trust 'democracy'. Democracy is the rule of the majority. Which is fine if the majority is right.

Once the majority becomes wrong, then the government they control, is in trouble. This is why the U.S. never was intended to be a 'democracy'. It is a 'Republic'. A people who have 'represented leaders' who represent them. And it is the 'representatives' who decide the direction of the government in the U.S.

But of course with this movement of socialism alive in the U.S. so is the movement to do away with our Republic form of government. This is what the creators of our government feared the most. Democracy turns into nothing but anarchy and dictatorship.

To follow the majority or the few -- depends on what's being Taught.

For Biblical truth to follow -- Jesus Christ tells us that "I am the way the Truth and the life, No man comes to the Father, but by Me". John 14.

You mentioned Noah -- he and his family turned out to be the only righteous people living by that time. The world that God created had become So evil All the time, that God decided to destroy it. In Genesis, God gives Noah directions on how to build it and who and what to put into it. Then the flood waters came and destroyed Everything except that which was in the ark. And Then this world was started over again. With only Noah , his family and the animals saved in the ark.

So - in the days of Noah -- a very few were the right ones to follow.

Just because the 'majority' want to do something, doesn't mean that the 'something' is the Right thing to do.

The Right thing to do is read God's Word and pray -- talking to God. And -- I'd suggest reading from the NKJ. It's more reader-friendly. More easily understood when reading.

John 3:16 and Ephesians 2:8-9 are good passages. And 1 Corinthians 5:1-4 or so.
