We often hear Isa 48:11; quoted a lot.
... My glory I will not give to another.
Some people take this to mean we do not share in any glory at all.
But there are verses in the New Testament that do not bear this out.
Rom 8:17; says if we suffer with Christ we will also share glory with Him.
In John 17:22; Jesus says that He gives the glory to us, just as the Father has given glory to Him.
John 5:44; says some try to receive glory from other men, but do not try to receive the glory that is from God.
Rom 2:10; says glory (and honor and peace) goes to everyone who does good. Jews and Gentiles.
2 Cor 3:9; says the ministry of condemnation has glory, but the ministry of righteousness has even more.
Eph 3:13; says the trials we go through... are for our glory.
2 Thess 2:14; says that you may gain the glory of our Lord Jesus.
So why the discrepancy?
Some say it is as simple as the old testament vs the new testament.
But I think it's a simple case of giving glory where glory is due.
God/Jesus saves us, helps us, keeps us, provides for us, heals us.. (the list goes on)
in these things... the glory belongs to God.
But God also allows us to suffer, and to be tested... when we pass these tests, it is for our glory.
( Eph 3:13; Rom 8:17; etc.. )
