Searching for a Bible Verse

Sorry if this ain't in the correct forum - moderators please feel free to move this thread elsewhere if you think there is a more suitable place for it.

I am looking without success for a part of the bible where Christ asks the question - something along the lines of :

Do you think they were without sin/blame?

In response to some disaster where a bunch of seemingly innocent people died.

Any ideas where I might find it?

Okay, now for the tough question. What does it mean?

Jesus was addressing a thinkin problem ...

It seems the Jews believed if something bad happened to someone, it was directly because of the sin in their lives. [Ref also Joh 9:2] To sin means 'to miss the mark', and Jesus was telling them they had missed the mark too. ["All have sinned and fallen short ..." -Rom 3:23]

This passage continues with Jesus telling them this parable: "A man had a fig tree that had been planted in his vineyard. He went to look for fruit on it but didn't find any..." He wanted them to understand that they could`nt judge if others had "missed the mark" by good or bad things happening to them, but by what fruit their lives produced.

Jesus was a straight shooter, and his arrows always hit the bullseye, the heart! :wink:

Heb 4:12 For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any double-edged sword, piercing until it divides soul and spirit, joints and marrow, as it judges the thoughts and purposes of the heart.

I thought the word of God is to be craved like a newborn craves its mothers milk.

The Word of God is a number of things according to the Bible.

Eph. 6:10-18 (KJV)
10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. 11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12 For we wrestle not against flesh F18 and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. 13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. 14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; 15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; 16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. 17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: 18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints

Elsewhere it talks about the Word of God being our nurishment - in severl places though not exact word.

Then again it is said to be our light.
