When you move away from where you were born and raised, you may experience a longing to go home at various times in your life. You can yearn for a place, circumstance, or family and friends. That yearning you feel in those moments is a picture of the search described in Psalm 105. Yearn for the God who develops everyday miracles for you and those around you. He keeps everything together and moving forward.
Music can take you back to a place you remember, an aroma can transport your mind to a place with people you can’t talk to anymore, and this collective yearning can help you understand the desire to be with God one day.
The combination of elements that make you who you are can work together to make you yearn for a place you’ve never been, trust a God you’ve never see, and look forward to a future you’ve yet to experience. This happens when you search, seek, and remember God with your whole heart.
Prayer: One day I will get to meet You, God. Until then, help me remember all the things You’ve done. Not just things You’ve done for me but for those around me as well. I want to marvel at the stories of Your mercy and be inspired by Your gifts of kindness.
