Greetings, Brothers and Sisters in Christ. I guess I should explain my user name a bit. I call myself the Rogue Pastor not because I consider myself to be in possession of secret revelation or because I look outside Scripture for wisdon. No, I am a Rogue because I do not connect myself to any church nor to goevernment standards for preaching and teaching the Word.

After reading me saying I do not connect myself to any church, you may wonder, what denomination I am. I am not part of any denomination nor am I non-denominational. I am a Follower of The Way. The Way (not to be confused with The Way International) is the church Christ planted as acknowledge by the Holy Scriptures. In fact the first topic I post on will be about The Way.

I look forward to spirited, Spirit lead, wisdom growing conversation with each and every one of you. Please note that neither I nor any of you know everything so be willing to admit that you don't know an answer and so will I. I will give my best understanding but always with the knowledge that I could be incorrect or just missing some information. Be blessed.

i too have this "hesitation" about churches too. in a building sence. in a political sence and i even am not an "official member" of the church i go to. and i only go because i Believe God has me there. especially sence no matter which pastor preaches that week God takes me to the very scripture preached on that sunday before sunday. every week.

however WE are the church. living stones. and even by coming on this forum, which Gods people come here, you have affiliated yourself with a church. which is The bride of the Lord Jesus Christ.


i have been in more church buildings where false gospel is preached than truth, and it seems that the truth is more and more rogue-ish these days.

no i get it. i dont like the institution part of church today. i beleiev it to be a decay on what church/church life really is. allow me to illustrate.
in the new testament it is plain the early church did several things. they met every day, house to house(which means one day this believers home the next day another beliver or maybe it was on a schedule cant nail to much down there) they called nothing thier own, and NO ONE had need of anything(and today its hard to get 1/10th). all this can be found in the new testament. and if one put much thought in it that would leave more time to devote to God, it would aid in bringing up children in the admonition of the Lord, it would allow elders to feed the flock more effieciently cuz they KNOW each other, it would allow people to not slip so deeply in depression cuz a brother or sister would be right there to encourage them. just on and on. which is one reason i come to this website. i have reached out in my Life around me and it seems every one is far away or proccupied with the cares of thier life(which helps my thorns to flourish) or whatever the case is.
we are the church. living stones in the building God is building. one on top of the other we are to hold one another up. not go just on sunday. we are to be close together like bricks held together with the mortar of Love with the Mortar of Jesus.

Psa 127:1 Except the LORD build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the LORD keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain.
dont get me wrong some churches out there may be "keepin it real" for God but of the ones i have been to its to much drama.
church or ekklēsia in the greek means chosen or called out ones.

I get exactly what your saying. Its true that many churches today are missing something. Actually many things. It would be nice to return churches to the house church methods. However its not practical anymore. The house church movement is what we call small group or cell group ministries.

Its very true that churches need to actually get to know those they serve whether they attend the church or not. Even or especially if they are not saved. One thing most churches need are ministry trains folks. Either with more Pastors, Elders, Deacons, Teachers or even well trained lay people.

Next many churches need is to form districts. By doing this people in ministry, regardless of position, can concentrate on a small part of the whole rather that being overwhelmed by the whole. Remember there were 12 Apostles to start with. Each had their particular area of calling. Along the way they trained others to lighten their load. A perfect example is Paul training Timothy and Titus. This allowed Paul to, in effect, be in more places and help more folks than he would have otherwise been able to.

I guess am saying instead of being discouraged by the church available to you, perhaps you should work with they churches to make them more in keeping with what Christ commanded. Lead a small group. Volunteer at a homeless shelter or a retirement home. Become an Usher and someday a Deacon. Help teach folks to read so that they can someday read The Word of God.

Places like this are nice for encouragement, some small training, fellowship to an extent but they are no replacement for a real world church actively doing God's work.
