"Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath: For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of GOd." (James 1:19-20) KJV

Help from CLASP

C... Calm down. Things can become very heated, intense and irrational in a short time. If you are anxious of agitated, it is highly unlikely tha the two parties will reach a mutually-agreeable solution.

L... Lower your voice. Shoutting doesn't help to make your point. lower the decibel level. A good point can be effectively made in a converstaional tone of voice.

A... Ask some questions. Ask the other party to express his or her position on the matter. Don't try to debate anything or justify yourself. Clear the smoke and put the fire out. Aim at understanding.

S...State your position. you have asked the othe rparty to state his or her position. Now give that person your perspective in a calm manner. Strive for understanding. Avoid accusatory words and phrases like, "You never..." or "You always..."

P... Propose a solution. Work toegther to find one that is mutually agreeable and workable. Do not give up until you have proposed something that both parties can agree to at least try for a period of time.

When we talk too much and listend too little we communicate to others that we think our ideas are more important than theirs. Create a mental stopwatch for your conversations and keep track of how much you talk and how much you listen.

This really helped me with arguments at school and especially helped me when I am arguing with my parents. I hope it is usefull for you too..

God Bless you.
