Resting In Christ What Does It Mean?

@JesusIs4Me,

First, if a man doesn’t believe Jesus’ words they will not do what He says. If a man does not do what Jesus says, they do not believe Jesus and the question would be, do they believe in Jesus. We must look at ourselves to be obedience to the word of the Lord because God has made us accountable in justification to Jesus.

Every human being knows how to obey and has obeyed man their whole life. God will hold any man accountable for rejecting obedience to His Son. If a grown man says, I can’t be obedient, he saying I refuse to humble myself. Hell is enlarged for that person.

If we refuse to obey Christ, we shall not inherit life. Believers are not justified by the law; we are justified by Jesus Christ. Whatever Jesus tells us to do we must and can “believe” to do what He says (Mar. 9:23). If Jesus tells us to keep the law of Love, we must keep the law of Love (Joh. 14:15, 21; 15:9, 10, 16).

We do not keep the law because we are not justified by the law, as Israel was; we keep the law because we are justified by Jesus Christ. If we are not obedient to Jesus, we do not believe His word or Him and Jesus is not our Lord.

Luk 6:46 And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?

Joh 8:46 Which of you convinces me of sin? And if I say the truth, why do you not believe me?

Joh 12:49 For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father which sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak.

Joh 12:50 And I know that God’s commandment is life everlasting: whatsoever I speak therefore, even as the Father said unto me, so I speak.

Heb 5:9 And being made perfect, Jesus became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him;

You are confusing salvation with being His disciple. Discipleship is separate from salvation otherwise you are not saved yet and you can't tell people that Jesus Christ is your Saviour if you are not saved yet.

In the seed and the sower parable, the one that had crows eat up the seed is the devil that took the word out of their hearts so that they could not believe BUT all other examples Jesus has given are those that have received the seed ( Christ Himself ) but only those that abide in Him as His disciples bear fruits. So per one example, not very many saved believers continue in reading His words to take root to bear fruit so that when persecution comes when mockers use the evolution theory to put doubts in His words, they fall away as another example set their relationship with the Lord on a shelf and become burden by the cares of this life where the briers and thorns choke the word so that seed does not bear fruit.

Not if when unbelievers are without Christ, then they are slaves to sin.

As for believers.. do you know everything there is to know in order to abide in His words in order to follow Him or not when you were saved? No? Then that is what running this race is all about when He exposes the works of darkness hence sins, you can ask Him for forgiveness and ask Him for help that you do not sin again.

I'm not confusing discipleship for salvation. As you said, only those that received the seed from the sower in their heart were initially saved. Receiving Christ is also receiving what He says in His words and commandments.

John 1:12
But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:

If you are not a son of God you are not a disciple. Only those that become sons can be disciples and inherit life. This is the purpose of being tried. We are not manifestly sons until we are judged at the end; until then it's by faith. "WILL BE" is a future tense reference.

Revelation 21:7
He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and "I will be" his God, and he shall be my son.

Those that received seed on the "stone" and "thorns" became tares and did not become disciples; who in the day of judgment will be cast into the furnace of fire.

Matthew 13:40
As therefore the tares are gathered and burned in the fire; so shall it be in the end of this world.

Where were the tares gathered out of? And are the tares in the body of Christ considered Christians until the day of judgment? Yes!

Matthew 13:41
The Son of man shall send forth his angels, and they shall gather "out of "HIS" kingdom"all things that offend, and them which do iniquity;

They were saved... Those on the stone and thorns didn't bring forth fruit, so they didn't becomes disciple. They had salvation but because they loved the world more than Christ, they became unfruitful and fell away being unprofitable for the Kingdom of God. A disciple bears fruit. A son bears the character/fruit of their father, whether in Jesus name or in Satan's name.

John 15:8
Herein is my Father glorified, that you bear much fruit; so shall you be my disciples.

Luke 14:26
If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple.
Luke 14:27
And whosoever doth not bear his cross, and come after me, cannot be my disciple.

A person must be a disciple in order to have eternal life. If you are not a disciple you are not a son or friend of Christ. If not a son or friend of Christ you will not have life.

John 8:31
Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If you continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed;
