"Rescuing Others Through Prayer!"
by Pastor Raul Ries

"Then the men turned away from there and went toward Sodom,

But Abraham still stood before the Lord."

Genesis 18:22

Why does God put such importance on praying for others? In the Old Testament two angels and the Lord approached Abraham and he asked them to stay for supper. It was when the heavenly entourage was ready to go that Abraham found out why they were there - they were going to destroy Sodom and Gomorrah because of the cries of evil that had ascended up to God.

Knowing God's judgment was coming; Abraham began to intercede on behalf of the people in Sodom and Gomorrah. Prayer is essential in turning the heart of an unbeliever towards the Lord.

Thought for the Day:
There is power in Your prayers! If there weren't
Would God say it was a sin to NOT pray for others?

Excellent devotional sister. I'm sure many believers take it for granted that prayer is just a simple communication to GOD, which it is but much more! We behold great power in prayer that GOD has granted to us through Jesus Christ, whom we pray in His name.

1 Thessalonians 5:17
Pray without ceasing.

James 5:16
16Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

Mark 11:24
24Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.

Chad that's just awesome, you're so right.
Many of us take prayer as a task, not realising the power you speak of.

Thanks for the additional verses.

Go bless you brother.

I agree , prayer has great power, and I think the most powerful thing it does is adjust me to the Father's will and plan. Through prayer (reasoning) with God, He reveals His plan and purpose and in doing so exposes my own agenda and the need for making adjustments.

Brothers and sisters in Christ, I would like to encourage everyone to pray
for each other and for TalkJesus.

This will brings us closer, and also into a deeper christian walk with our father

I agree with my whole heart.

Praying is like breathing, if you don't breath you will suffocate and if you can't pray let your heart stand on it's knees even if you're standing upright.

I'm praying for this site and all the members on it, which is the body of Christ - my brother's and sisters. If we don't meet while here on earth let's meet in heaven, helping each other to reach it through praying for one another.

Blessings!
