What is really needed to recieve Christ? Many say that it is just a matter of believing on the Lord Jesus Christ. What do you say?

It's not what we say, it's what Jesus said.

John 3:16 NKJV
16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

John 3:18 NKJV
“He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

Here Jesus mentions believing in the Father as well. You should believe in Jesus, but you should also believe in God.

Life and Judgment Are Through the Son

John 5:24-30
24 “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life. 25 Most assuredly, I say to you, the hour is coming, and now is, when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God; and those who hear will live. 26 For as the Father has life in Himself, so He has granted the Son to have life in Himself, 27 and has given Him authority to execute judgment also, because He is the Son of Man. 28 Do not marvel at this; for the hour is coming in which all who are in the graves will hear His voice 29 and come forth—those who have done good, to the resurrection of life, and those who have done evil, to the resurrection of condemnation. 30 I can of Myself do nothing. As I hear, I judge; and My judgment is

You are so right. God's Word is the final authority.
What does the scripture say regarding our hope and salvation? What happens to our hope? I Cor 15:19. What do you think that the Apostle Paul is saying to the Corintians here? What is our view of the world from the time that we are saved?

I don't really understand your questions sister ;) Sorry, I'm no scholar. I like getting a spiritual look on things, I don't like thinking of it really, it has to be part of my spirit.

Worship God in spirit and truth etc....

Can't answer those questions really ;)

Not only are we taught to believe but the focus of our hope changes from the things that we want and the focus becomes Christ. Jesus set a awesome example for us. He was always about the Father's business. I don't remember one time that He thought of himself and His needs. Do you?

It is to believe that Jesus is God and He died on the cross for our sins, was buried and rose again on the third day by the power of God. If we truly believe Jesus is Lord and Saviour, it will lead to repentance of our sins and trust in Jesus Christ.

Romans 10:9
"That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved." KJV

I was saved at a young age,11. I was shown from the Bible that I was a lost sinner, Rom.3:10,23. I was shown where sin started,Rom.5:12. I was shown that Jesus loved me so much that He died for me.Rom.5:8,John3:16.I was shown what the price for my sin would be, but what the gift of God is if I'd only accept it, Rom.6:23. Then I was shown what I needed to do to have the Lord Jesus Christ as my Saviour, as Cody pointed out Rom.10:9-13. So I ask Jesus to come into my heart and save me and be my personal Saviour, and He did, and it's been a wonderful life.
Salvation is not going to church,or being baptized, or just believing that God exist, or being a good person etc. It's only through Jesus Christ that we can go to Heaven when we die. And the way this world is shaping up, we may not have to wait till we die to get there.

Faithful Son, Cody, and Itpage have summed it up pretty well. I just can't see how people can deny Christ when he tells us so plainly in the Bible that if we shall accept him we shall receive everlasting life. John 3:16

For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;(Romans 3:23KJV)

Re: Receiving Christ as Savior

In my opinion, it begins with a sincere search for spiritual truth. Hebrews 11:6 says that "Whoever would find God must first believe that He exists and that He rewards those who diligently seek Him."

I grew up in the Catholic School System. I'm no longer a Catholic (I have some issues with Catholic practices and beliefs) but, I received some solid Christian training in the Catholic School System and part of that training was the knowledge that I could lay my troubles before the Lord in prayer. That was powerful for me as a kid because I couldn't tell another person my troubles for fear of being ridiculed.

At about the age of ten I began to take my troubles to the Lord and the seed of relationship with Him was planted. I drifted away from Him during my teen-age and young adult years. But, the seed of faith was growing in me. God gradually drew me to Himself and I got saved at the age of forty-six.

What did I need to receive Christ? First, I needed a couple of nuns who showed me God's love. Then, as a child, I needed to take the hope they gave me, slim as it was, and use it to connect with Jesus. After puberty, He let me run for awhile as a prodigal but, when the time was right, He set the hook and reeled me in and I am grateful beyond description for that.

"...if you confess with your mouth 'Jesus is Lord' and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved." (Ro 10:9-11)

What does salvation do to our hearts? Romans 10:9-13 What does the Bible teach us happens to our hearts at salvation?

When I got saved, it felt like my heart was light as a feather. Which everyones experience is a little different. When we get saved we're made a new creature in Christ. The Bibles says that our heart is not blind anymore after we accept the gospel of Christ. We are commanded to keep a pure heart.

2 Corinthians 5:17
"Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new." KJV

Thanks, Cody.

I know you are probably wondering why I brought this up. So often people think salvation is the emotions that we feel. Many people are not aware of what really takes place at salvation. They just pray a prayer and they are saved. Scripture teaches us to examine ourselves to see if we be in the faith.
We have a new heart. Does this new heart change our thoughts, actions, or behavior? If so how?

You're welcome.

I believe it makes us hate sin and love the things that God loves. We still sin, but the Holy Spirit convicts us when we do sin.

Watch this video, I believe it will cover what we're talking about:
Paul Washer Project

God Bless
