Sorry, Idk where to post this question, its more of me just wondering about something. Background, i have so many blessings from the Lord in my life right now, halfway through college for a degree in social work, getting married this june, and good health. I have relied heavily on God in the past and currently, i know he is there, but i have negative feelings towards him as well, its strange i love him dearly, but i have a hard time with him. I lost my father to suicide last year and could never understand how God could let it happen to a person who has had such a hard life, and it makes me so angry to think that my dad saw Gods face and watched as he pushed him into hell. (i shared the Lord with him before he passed, idk for sure if he was saved). I feel like God made us as imperfect beings, gave us a sinful nature, then knowing that some of us would fail created us and sends some of us to hell. I also work with children who come from troubled backgrounds, and it frustrates me to no end thinking that some of them will end up in hell...I just feel like God enjoys Heaven sometimes and tunes us out. I get so frustrated i cant see him face to face, and feel like i have to go through a circus of prayer and seeking to hear a peep from him. Contrary to what it sounds like, i am a very happy person, love God and want to be a man of God, but honestly i get so tired of feeling like im always on the loosing side fighting a hopeless battle, encouraging others to find God when i myself want to throw something at him sometimes because i dont understand! aha jk anyhow thanks for letting me vent. Just a few musings on my mind.
Kevin,
If I may reflect back what you wrote.
Take a look at the highlighted phrases in your writing that I quoted above.
What do you see?
I see a man who truly wants to feel God's blessings and be free from those *feelings*.
Those *feelings* are the indications of a mind that has not yet seen the power and majesty of God. Guess how I know? because that's exactly how I felt also.
These feelings are the projection of *our* point of view, not God's. It is the product of our impure mind that we inherit from Adam when he chose, not God, to rebel.
These feelings are exactly the ones that Lord Jesus chose to give Himself up so we can be free of.
And lastly, there is not one thing that we can do to get rid of those feelings apart from this:
- Immerse yourself in the Scriptures. Take it seriously, and study it. Don't just read it, pour on it, understand what it actually says. Consider what others may teach, but strive to open yourself to what the Scripture will reveal *about* yourself. You may be surprised at how little you actually know about what the Scriptures is teaching, until you really get serious about it. I knew I was, and I had been a so-called Christian for decades up to that point.
- Seek the guidance of the Holy Spirit that is in you. Find Him. Learn to rely on His power, not your own. In every important decision in your life, start to consider God's point of view, not your own.
These two steps will cause you to grow in the Spirit. Which eventually will result in the freedom we so seek. The freedom from those *feelings*. The freedom to embrace God's grace and mercy. Because we finally find out how insignificant we are compared to Him who is to be Magnified above all.
And as with any growth, baby steps is the way to start. Be patient.
