Question about Isaiah Chapter 1

When I read this, I immediately assumed it was a prophecy of the coming of the Lord during the age of Jesus' ministry. Then, as I checked some commentaries, it doesn't seem people see it that way.

What am I missing here? Verse 4, especially, stands out to me when it says they have "spurned the Holy One of Israel." I saw the "Holy one of Israel" as Jesus. Then, in chapter 18, it says:

18 "Come now, let us reason together,"
says the LORD.
"Though your sins are like scarlet,
they shall be as white as snow;
though they are red as crimson,
they shall be like wool.

This sounds like the kind of salvation only found in Jesus blood sacrifice, no?

In between these verses, there are references to feasts, sabbath, and festivals, all of which our LORD is tired of. He even goes to the point of saying He "hates" them, which kinda looks to me like He is making it irrefutable that the old Mosaic covenant is done, and the New Covenant with Jesus is to replace it.

Additionally, the very next chapter goes into describing the Millenial Kingdom.

But... No one seems to see this. Where have I gone wrong? Is this prophecy for a different age? If so, what age is it regarding? And how were their sins to become "white" without Jesus' sacrifice?

God allowed the animals which were constantly sacrificed to cleanse the people in the Old Testament. In the New Testament that no longer is suitable because Jesus, the one for all time sacrifice takes away sin. The Old Testament IS different than the New Testament. We have a new covenant. He hated the fasts and other things because their heart was far from him, so they did many of these things in vain. Israel was "adultrous" in that it could not remain true to the one true God. Now we have the Holy Spirit to guide each of us.

Ok, but does that mean you agree Isaiah 1 is about the New Covenant and the coming of Jesus' sacrifice and the replacement of the Mosaic Covenant?

Faithful!! I see you right on the money!! Good call! I sure agree with you!! To reason together,to me ,is forming a conculsion that we are going to walk in his light now forever! We confess our sins, Jesus covers them with his blood,puts them in the sea of forgetfullness and remembers them no more! why because he has a poor memory?? LOL no we know why!! all because he chooses to do that,because he loves us,which I am so thankful for!

The Book of Isaiah is full of references and prophecies about Jesus Christ. Do not sweat the commentaries, what ifs the Holy Spirit telling you?

Reasoning together would be the same as taking the things of the conscience to the throne of grace to recieve mercy. The cleansing blood of Jesus then wipes the conscience clean because of talking it over with God. Then the strength to go on in a renewed mind, faith being strengthened because of the grace recieved there.
It's not the rituals that count, it's fellowship. That's what gets a person to the overcoming of the new millenium.

The old covenent brought a person to the altar of animal sacrifices. The new covenent brings a person to the throne of the Lord in Heaven.
The old covenent was temporary as a shadow of the Lord.
The new covenent is permanant as the substance of the Lord.

The difference is a new heart that is willing to learn and renew the mind.

The kingdom is achieved by repentance and following Him.

That's the 'reasonable service'
