Psalms 119:105: Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.
A properly used lamp will always be held up in front of the person holding it. Of what use is a lamp while holding it behind your back as you walk amidst the dark? No good use for sure. Certainly it isn't meant to be used in such manner. Using a lamp improperly will cause you to stumble in the dark and could even lead you to sudden destruction. Therefore, we should always follow scripture at whatever cost.
It should always lead us. We can trust it to help us get to where we are going, safely. It is something we should cling to and hold on to as if our life was hanging in the balance. When life becomes overwhelming, confusing or hopeless, this short wonderful scripture can remind us that we are probably putting our self interests in front of the word taking precedence over it. At which point one should stop, and examine ourselves by the word and let it take its proper lead.
Prayer: Thank you Lord for revelation and your living word. I can depend on your word to lead me and get me safely where you will me to be. Let me cling to your word, always. Protect me from placing my self-interests first which will certainly lead me down a path you never meant me to be on. Amen. Glory be to God!
