proof of a trinity

Member
Hello all,I just happened to be thinking about 1JHn5:7-8 and I experienced a sort of rev.thanks to the spirit.
Here goes you know about 1jhn5:7 For there are three that bear record in heaven, the father, the word, and the holy spirit:And these three are one.
this passage is still in some translations but with some kind of foot note atleast telling the reader that this is an unauthorized insertion dating back to the 16th cent. around the time of the invention of printing, and that it is not And it really is not found in any of the originall text at all.
Well to me this passage was the only way one could, (without kind of reading it in if you know what I mean)prove the theory of trinity as it would apply to the god head.
But not the case when you apply it to the earth(the earthhead that is jst kidding),And I believe I know who this is. please read the next verse1 jhn5:8
and tell me what you think.
Now I know were to be one in spirit err in the spirit of oneness im not talking in that sense and also that the holy spirit is none other than the father's own
' power, presence, finger, spirit of his etc.... remember no man can look upon god and live that is in this flesh tabncle,so he found a way to get close to us and thank god for that So Be It (amen)

Proof of the trinity all one need to do is look at ones self....We are created in the image of the invisible God....We are 3 parts as well....Spirit...Soul...Body.
From the human standpoint we can never understand 3 persons from one source but all being the same.......all we need to do is believe!

Take a look at this study...

The most difficult thing about the Christian concept of the Trinity is that there is no way to adequately explain it. The Trinity is a concept that is impossible for any human being to fully understand, let alone explain. God is infinitely greater than we are, therefore we should not expect to be able to fully understand Him. The Bible teaches that the Father is God, that Jesus is God, and that the Holy Spirit is God. The Bible also teaches that there is only one God. Though we can understand some facts about the relationship of the different persons of the Trinity to one another, ultimately, it is incomprehensible to the human mind. However, this does not mean it is not true or not based on the teachings of the Bible.

Keep in mind when studying this subject that the word "Trinity" is not used in Scripture. This is a term that is used to attempt to describe the triune God, the fact that there are 3 coexistent, co-eternal persons that make up God. Understand that this is NOT in any way suggesting 3 Gods. The Trinity is 1 God made up of 3 persons. There is nothing wrong with using the term "Trinity" even though the word is not found in the Bible. It is shorter to say the word "Trinity" than to say "3 coexistent, co-eternal persons making up 1 God." If this presents a problem to you, consider this: the word grandfather is not used in the Bible either. Yet, we know there were grandfathers in the Bible. Abraham was the grandfather of Jacob. So don't get hung up on the term "Trinity" itself. What should be of real importance is that the concept that is REPRESENTED by the word "Trinity" does exist in Scripture. With the introduction out of the way, Bible verses will be given in discussion of the Trinity.

1) There is one God: Deuteronomy 6:4; 1 Corinthians 8:4; Galatians 3:20; 1 Timothy 2:5.

2) The Trinity consists of three Persons: Genesis 1:1; 1:26; 3:22; 11:7; Isaiah 6:8; 48:16; 61:1; Matthew 3:16-17; Matt 28:19; 2 Corinthians 13:14. In the passages in the Old Testament, a knowledge of Hebrew is helpful. In Genesis 1:1, the plural noun "Elohim" is used. In Genesis 1:26; 3:22; 11:7 and Isaiah 6:8, the plural pronoun for "us" is used. That "Elohim" and "us" refer to more than two is WITHOUT question. In English, you only have two forms, singular and plural. In Hebrew, you have three forms: singular, dual, and plural. Dual is for two ONLY. In Hebrew, the dual form is used for things that come in pairs like eyes, ears, and hands. The word "Elohim" and the pronoun "us" are plural forms - definitely more than two - and must be referring to three or more (Father, Son, Holy Spirit).

In Isaiah 48:16 and 61:1, the Son is speaking while making reference to the Father and the Holy Spirit. Compare Isaiah 61:1 to Luke 4:14-19 to see that it is the Son speaking. Matthew 3:16-17 describes the event of Jesus' baptism. Seen in this is God the Holy Spirit descending on God the Son while God the Father proclaims His pleasure in the Son. Matthew 28:19 and 2 Corinthians 13:14 are examples of 3 distinct persons in the Trinity.

3) The members of the Trinity are distinguished one from another in various passages: In the Old Testament, "LORD" is distinguished from "Lord" (Genesis 19:24; Hosea 1:4). The "LORD" has a "Son" (Psalm 2:7, 12; Proverbs 30:2-4). Spirit is distinguished from the "LORD" (Numbers 27:18) and from "God" (Psalm 51:10-12). God the Son is distinguished from God the Father (Psalm 45:6-7; Hebrews 1:8-9). In the New Testament, John 14:16-17 is where Jesus speaks to the Father about sending a Helper, the Holy Spirit. This shows that Jesus did not consider Himself to be the Father or the Holy Spirit. Consider also all of the other times in the Gospels where Jesus speaks to the Father. Was He speaking to Himself? No. He spoke to another person in the Trinity - the Father.

4) Each member of the Trinity is God: The Father is God: John 6:27; Romans 1:7; 1 Peter 1:2. The Son is God: John 1:1, 14; Romans 9:5; Colossians 2:9; Hebrews 1:8; 1 John 5:20. The Holy Spirit is God: Acts 5:3-4; 1 Corinthians 3:16 (The One who indwells is the Holy Spirit - Romans 8:9; John 14:16-17; Acts 2:1-4).

5) The subordination within the Trinity: Scripture shows that the Holy Spirit is subordinate to the Father and the Son, and the Son is subordinate to the Father. This is an internal relationship, and does not deny the deity of any person of the Trinity. This is simply an area which our finite minds cannot understand concerning the infinite God. Concerning the Son see: Luke 22:42; John 5:36; John 20:21; 1 John 4:14. Concerning the Holy Spirit see: John 14:16; 14:26; 15:26; 16:7 and especially John 16:13-14.

6) The tasks of the individual members of the Trinity: The Father is the ultimate source or cause of: 1) the universe (1 Corinthians 8:6; Revelation 4:11); 2) divine revelation (Revelation 1:1); 3) salvation (John 3:16-17); and 4) Jesus' human works (John 5:17; 14:10). The Father INITIATES all of these things.

The Son is the agent through whom the Father does the following works: 1) the creation and maintenance of the universe (1 Corinthians 8:6; John 1:3; Colossians 1:16-17); 2) divine revelation (John 1:1; Matthew 11:27; John 16:12-15; Revelation 1:1); and 3) salvation (2 Corinthians 5:19; Matthew 1:21; John 4:42). The Father does all these things through the Son, who functions as His agent.

The Holy Spirit is the means by whom the Father does the following works: 1) creation and maintenance of the universe (Genesis 1:2; Job 26:13; Psalm 104:30); 2) divine revelation (John 16:12-15; Ephesians 3:5; 2 Peter 1:21); 3) salvation (John 3:6; Titus 3:5; 1 Peter 1:2); and 4) Jesus' works (Isaiah 61:1; Acts 10:38). Thus the Father does all these things by the power of the Holy Spirit.

None of the popular illustrations are completely accurate descriptions of the Trinity. The egg (or apple) fails in that the shell, white, and yolk are parts of the egg, not the egg in themselves. The Father, Son and Holy Spirit are not parts of God, each of them is God. The water illustration is somewhat better but still fails to adequately describe the Trinity. Liquid, vapor, and ice are forms of water. The Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are not forms of God, each of them is God. So, while these illustrations may give us a picture of the Trinity, the picture is not entirely accurate. An infinite God cannot be fully described by a finite illustration. Instead of focusing on the Trinity, try to focus on the fact of God's greatness and infinitely higher nature than our own. "Oh, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable his judgments, and his paths beyond tracing out! Who has known the mind of the Lord? Or who has been his counselor?" (Romans 11:33-34)

I have never understood the Trinity myself until this year when our Minister at our church explained it this way.

He introduced himself and said he is married and and have a daughter.

So he explained it this way - I am Themba(myself), a father and a husband.

He said he can be 3 things, but is only one person.

He gave us this example to explain the Trinity to make us understand that the Trinity is one.

I can understand the concept of oneness. But as far as three super beings(emphasis mine) God the father, the son and the holy spirit. How does anyone come up whith this and say its within context of the bible? It cant be done. And say for instance that it is that person would suffer the curses as outline in rev.Not to mention that we would be dealing whith a whole different book, thus a different god a diferent everything.. Thats how the holy spirit is originnally rendered as It not him or her but IT]Is always characterized as a helper, finger of god the power of god, comforter,An extension of....not as a being and certainly not something of worship or you make the laws of god of none effect.I ask you wheres the mystery in that?
Because god is not the author of confusion man and satan is.Our physical body or soul which is the same thing and is no different than any other creature on this earth. Our souls/bodies desperatly evil and is enmity
(an enemy of) against god.And so we cant physically look opon god and live because he is spirit like jesus said.So because he loves us so much he extends qualities of himself to us in the form of his power/help/his own presense.

Notice most pagan religions are based on a trinity concept and/or a mysterious religion to justify(fool themselves)what they believe and worship like say babylon.
All roads leads to rome, but all pagan ideas leads back to babylon.
Just for kicks go back in time and try to convince the apstles or better yet moses of a trinity and see if you dont get stoned the hard way you know the kind that hurts. For one the people at that time wouldnt know what you are talking about. They would most certainly think you was roman talking greek.
with much love

You ask how. The answer is in the origonal Hebrew texts/words/meanings, and the inability to properly translate into english. Yes, even in 1611.

The Trinity consists of three Persons: Genesis 1:1; 1:26; 3:22; 11:7; Isaiah 6:8; 48:16; 61:1; Matthew 3:16-17; Matt 28:19; 2 Corinthians 13:14. The question you pose is really quite common, and can be simply explained by our lack of knowlege of Hebrew. Luckily, the Lord put the rite people in the rite places to teach of the Trinity long ago. He is wise beyond our undertanding. The Lord is Great!

Amen Nigh. Someone else brought this up 3 times (being argumentive against the 3 persons in one GOD truth).

Below is a copy/paste of my post from another thread regarding Triune.

Acts 5:30-32

30The God of our fathers raised Jesus from the dead—whom you had killed by hanging him on a tree. 31God exalted him to his own right hand as Prince and Savior that he might give repentance and forgiveness of sins to Israel. 32We are witnesses of these things, and so is the Holy Spirit, whom God has given to those who obey him."

Acts 7:55-57
55But Stephen, full of the Holy Spirit, looked up to heaven and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing at the right hand of God. 56"Look," he said, "I see heaven open and the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God."

Luke 22:69
But from now on, the Son of Man will be seated at the right hand of the mighty God."

Mark 16:19
After the Lord Jesus had spoken to them, he was taken up into heaven and he sat at the right hand of God.

Luke 22:69
But from now on, the Son of Man will be seated at the right hand of the mighty God."

Hebrews 12:2
Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Genesis 1:26
Then God said, "Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, [ Hebrew; Syriac all the wild animals ] and over all the creatures that move along the ground."

Trinity: Webster’s dictionary gives the following definition of trinity: “The union of three divine persons (or hypostases), the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, in one divinity, so that all the three are one God as to substance, but three Persons (or hypostases as to individuality).” Synonyms sometimes used are triunity, trine, triality. The term “trinity” is formed from “tri,” three, and “nity,” unity. Triunity is a better term than “trinity” because it better expresses the idea of three in one. God is three in one. Hypostases is the plural of hypostasis which means “the substance, the underlying reality, or essence.”

Tri-theism. This is the teaching that there are three Gods who are sometimes related, but only in a loose association. Such an approach, abandons the biblical oneness of God and the unity within the Trinity

1 Corinthians 8:4-6 “Therefore concerning the eating of things sacrificed to idols, we know that there is no such thing as an idol in the world, and that there is no God but one. For even if there are so-called gods whether in heaven or on earth, as indeed there are many gods and many lords, yet for us there is but one God, the Father, from whom are all things, and we exist for Him; and one Lord, Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we exist through Him.”

Ephesians 4:4-6There is one body and one Spirit, just as also you were called in one hope of your calling; one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all who is over all and through all and in all.”

James 2:19 “You believe that God is one. You do well; the demons also believe, and shudder.”

There are many instances where God uses the plural pronoun to describe Himself (see Gen. 1:26; 3:22; 11:7; Isa. 6:8).

Several passages reveal a distinction of Persons within the Godhead.
  • In Psalm 110:1, David demonstrates there is a distinction of Persons between “LORD,” the one speaking, and the one addressed called by David, “my Lord.” David was indicating the Messiah was no ordinary king, but his own Lord, Adoni (my Lord), one who was God Himself. So God the first Person addresses God the second Person. This is precisely Peter’s point when He quotes this Psalm to show the resurrection of the Messiah was anticipated in the Old Testament.
  • The Redeemer (who must be divine, Isa. 7:14; 9:6) is distinguished from the Lord (Isa. 59:20).
  • The Lord is distinguished from the Lord in Hosea 1:6-7. The one speaking here is Yahweh, the Lord, yet, note the statement in verse 7, “I will have compassion … and deliver them by the Lord their God.”
  • The Spirit is distinguished from the Lord in a number of passages (Isa. 48:16; 59:21; 63:9-10).
(1) The Father is called God (John 6:27; 20:17; 1 Cor. 8:6; Gal. 1:1; Eph. 4:6; Phil. 2:11; 1 Pet. 1:2).

(2) Jesus Christ, the Son is declared to be God. His deity is proven by the divine names given to Him, by His works that only God could do (upholding all things, Col. 1:17; creation, Col. 1:16, John 1:3; and future judgment, John 5:27), by His divine attributes (eternality, John 17:5; omnipresence, Matt. 28:20; omnipotence, Heb. 1:3; omniscience, Matt. 9:4), and by explicit statements declaring His deity (John 1:1; 20:28; Titus 2:13; Heb. 1:8).

(3) The Holy Spirit is recognized as God. By comparing Peter’s comments in Acts 5:3 and 4, we see that in lying to the Holy Spirit (vs. 3), Ananias was lying to God (vs. 4). He has the attributes which only God can possess like omniscience (1 Cor. 2:10) and omnipresence (1 Cor. 6:19), and He regenerates people to new life (John 3:5-6, 8; Tit. 3:5), which must of necessity be a work of God for only God has the power of life. Finally, His deity is evident by the divine names used for the Spirit as “the Spirit of our God,” (1 Cor. 6:11), which should be understood as “the Spirit, who is our God.”

Ryrie writes: “Matthew 28:19 best states both the oneness and threeness by associating equally the three Persons and uniting them in one singular name. Other passages like Matthew 3:16-17 and 2 Corinthians 13:14 associate equally the three Persons but do not contain the strong emphasis on unity as does Matthew 28:19.”18

2 Cor. 13:14 The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit, be with you all.

1 Peter 1:1-5 Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, to those who reside as aliens, scattered throughout Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia, who are chosen 2 according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, by the sanctifying work of the Spirit, tat you may obey Jesus Christ and be sprinkled with His blood: May grace and peace be yours in fullest measure. 3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His great mercy has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4 to obtain an inheritance which is imperishable and undefiled and will not fade away, reserved in heaven for you, 5 who are protected by the power of God through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.

John 20:17
Jesus said, "Do not hold on to me, for I have not yet returned to the Father. Go instead to my brothers and tell them, 'I am returning to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.' "

John 13:3
Jesus knew that the Father had put all things under his power, and that he had come from God and was returning to God.

If I'm reading correctly, simpleman has difficulty with the Holy Spirit being God, not Jesus Christ. Saying support for a "dual-inity" is in scripture, but a "Trinity" is not scripturally sound. (If I'm not understanding you correctly, I am sorry. Please correct me brother.)

The following is some of the most convincing scripture to support the Holy Spirit as one with God, and part of the three...

One of the best scriptures for the trinity can be found here...

From the CEV

Co 15:24 Then after Christ has destroyed all powers and forces, the end will come, and he will give the kingdom to God the Father.
1Co 15:25 Christ will rule until he puts all his enemies under his power,
1Co 15:26 and the last enemy he destroys will be death.
1Co 15:27 When the Scriptures say that he will put everything under his power, they don't include God. It was God who put everything under the power of Christ.
1Co 15:28 After everything is under the power of God's Son, he will put himself under the power of God, who put everything under his Son's power. Then God will mean everything to everyone.

The KJV

1Co 15:24 Then [cometh] the end, when he shall have delivered up the kingdom to God, even the Father; when he shall have put down all rule and all authority and power.
1Co 15:25 For he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet.
1Co 15:26 The last enemy [that] shall be destroyed [is] death.
1Co 15:27 For he hath put all things under his feet. But when he saith all things are put under [him, it is] manifest that he is excepted, which did put all things under him.
1Co 15:28 And when all things shall be subdued unto him, then shall the Son also himself be subject unto him that put all things under him, that God may be all in all.

Although the holy spirit is not mentioned, this scripture knocks the oneness teaching right off its seat :shade:

Besides the holy spirit is God also, in another person.

Oh: id like to ask a question? how many spirits does God have? :shade:

Rev 5:6 And I beheld, and, lo, in the midst of the throne and of the four beasts, and in the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as it had been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God sent forth into all the earth.

No wonder John said... Great is the mystery of Godliness :thumbs_up

I can understand the concept of oneness.
How, we have never experenced anything even close to being actually "One" with another being. This is a totally empty statement.

But as far as three super beings(emphasis mine) God the father, the son and the holy spirit. How does anyone come up whith this and say its within context of the bible?
Uh, Simple, We Read the Bible. Clearly Biblically, There are three Beings, God the Father, The Son, and The Holy Spirit. And Clearly, Biblically there is only ONE God. So how to Reconcille this? Three Beings Form One God. If you dont like that Explanation Take it up with God, the concept is totally Supported by Scripture.

say for instance that it is that person would suffer the curses as outline in rev.Not to mention that we would be dealing whith a whole different book, thus a different god a diferent everything.
Whats this supposed to mean? You Dont believe Revalation to be part of the Word of God? Please, Provide Evidence for your Presupizition that the Current Cannon is flawed.

Ive read it from stem to stern and honestly it just would not make sense to have a trinity, now if you were to tell me about a two-itty Ill buy that.
It Does make sence. Read the wonderful Studies posted above.

But to put it short we know that no fleshly man can look upon god(the father)and live
Clearly, you havnt read the Bible as throughly as you Portray, Isaiah 6.
"Whoa to Me, I Have seen the King, The Lord of Hosts"

We also know that jesus was the testator, representor of god the father and that jesus became his son.
I Disagree with this Premise. While Jesus Did reveal Some of God's Will, it was not the only means of Revolation. And Certinally, God made Himself known through other means besides Jesus, So Jesus was not God's Representor.

Ok so far we have the father and the son.
All through out the bible and its important that we keep this in context. When you read about the holy spirit it [It. Thats how the holy spirit is originnally rendered as It not him or her but IT]Is always characterized as a helper, finger of god the power of god, comforter,An extension of....not as a being and certainly not something of worship or you make the laws of god of none effect.I ask you wheres the mystery in that?
Acts 1:16, the Holy Spirit "Foretold" Non-sentient Beings cannot Tell anything, first and second they certinally cannot tell of something that has yet to Happen. That Takes a Being with Knowledge of the Future. Plue the Ability to Speak this Prophecy through the Mouth of a Man means it must wield an Amazing amount of Power. So Hm, Lets think, The Only being in the Universe with Knowledge of the Future and Power to Control Even Small Aspects of a Humans life.

Our physical body or soul which is the same thing and is no different than any other creature on this earth. Our souls/bodies desperatly evil and is enmity
(an enemy of) against god.And so we cant physically look opon god and live because he is spirit like jesus said.So because he loves us so much he extends qualities of himself to us in the form of his power/help/his own presense.
Where do you get the idea that the Physical Body and the Soul are the same thing? That is absolutly Not true Biblically. Aminals are Not Spiritual (Isa 31:3), And the Spirit and the Flesh(Body) are Different (Romans 8:4, Paul Sets up a Contrast Between Flesh and Spirit. They cannot Be the same thing If we are to Walk according to One and Not the other.)

And if you was to look at yourself you would only notice a soul and spirit. The soul will die and return to the earth but our spirit is what may ultimately live on if we are saved of course.Thats dual whats tri or 3ual about that?
Where do you get this Theology from? When Rachel Died in Genisis it Specfically says Her Soul Departed. (Gen 35)

All in all God's inspired word is not not open to yours or mine interpretation or else if it was, we would then be worshiping other gods made up according to how we want them to be. So in the spirit of oneness we should therefore understand the same though some may need to catch up if you will .But there is only one word one truth and so knowledge must be one as well.Anything else is a mystery religion.
I Agree, but I think your the one with Flawed theology, Not these people that has answered you.

This is a Logical Fallacy, Pagan Religions being Tritarian Has nothing to do with weather or Not the Christian Claim of a Trinity is actually True. Your meerly trying to Insist that it is wrong based on no evidence.

Overall, I dont think you Provided any Evidence to Support Your Claim that the trinity Does not Exist. All you Did was offer Speculation without Scripture to back up your Positions. Please, If you can Use Scripture to make your Argument, I'm all ears. But I dont think its Possible, there are too many uses of Plural Words in Refrence to God, and Too many Refrences to the Holy Spirit doing thinks. To Attribute Blame for an Action to Something, that Something must have been able to Something Else, That Alternative, Logically, means it Had Choice, Choice is only Found In Beings that are Sentient. Therefore the Holy Spirit is a Sentient Being. So Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

Plus, Really, Why Would Peter Be Insisting People be Baptised in the Name of the "Father, Son, and Holy Spirit" In Acts If he didnt believe the Holy Spirit to Be on Par with the other two. This is a Man Who Knew Jesus Personally.

Just Some Thoughts.

God (A.S. and dutch God;Dan.Gud;Ger.Gott),the name of the Divine Being.It is the rendering (1.) of the hebrew'El,from a word meaning to be strong;
2.)of 'Elohim. The singular form,Eloah, is used only in poetry. The plural form is more commonly used in all parts of the bible,The Hebrew word Jehovah, the only other word generally employed to denote the supreme being,is uniformly rendered in the Authorized Version by"Lord".
The existence of god is taken for granted in the bible. There is nowhere any argument to prove it.He who disbelieves this truth is spoken of as one devoid of understanding(psa 14:1).
ELOHIM expresses the might of the creator and sustainer of the universe.ELYON,His sublimity,Gen 14:22,"the most high".SHADDAI,the "Almighty,"his all sufficiency(Gen 17:1;Phi 4:19;2Co 12:9).
JEHOVAH,His unchangeable faithfulness to His covenanted promises to his people.ADONAI,His lordship.
ELOAH, the singular,is used only in poetry. The deriviation is aalah(to fear).
the plural ELOHIM,is the common form in prose and poetry, expressing that he combines in himself all the fullness of devine perfections in there manifold powers and operations;these the heathen (pagans)divided among a variety of gods.ELOHIM concentrates all the devine attributes assigned to the idols severally, and, besides those, others which corrupt man never of himself imagined, infinate love, goodness, justice, wisdom, creative power.
Theres none beside him deu 4:35;isa 44:6.
None before him Isa 43:10
None like to him Exo 9:14;Deu 33:26;2Sa 7:22;Isa 46:5;46:9; Jer 10:6.

The apostle paul wrote:"But to us there is but one God,the Father,of whom are all things, and we in him;and one lord Jesus Christ,by whom are all things, and we by him"1cor 8:6.
He said that there is "one lord[jesus christ]"and"One god and father of all" eph 4:5,6; and affirmed that "there is one god, and one mediator between god and men,the man Christ Jesus" 1tim 2:5.He stated that "the head of Christ is God" 1cor 11:3,and repeatedly mentioned "God our father and Jesus Christ our Lord", distinguishing the two.
Throughout the new test. we read of God and Jesus. We are told that God sent Jesus, and that Jesus is God's son.Jesus himself said,"I ascend to my God,and your God" jhn 20:17,and referred to his father as"the only true God" jhn 17:3.
The bible tells us that God the father dwells in heaven, and jesus Christ is at His right hand. How can the Father and Son dwell in heaven, and , at the same time, dwell "in" us? Answr ; By spiritual extension-By reaching into the natural world-both the Father and the Son dwell in the spiritual Temple, the church.
This helps us to understand why Jesus mentions the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit in mat 28:19.By understanding that the Holy Spirit is the spiritual indwelling of the Father and the Son,we can understand why Jesus mentioned all three in the baptismal formula.
While the Holy Spirit is not the Third Person of the Godhead, it is a mistake to say that the Spirit "is not personal and is not God.'The Spirit of God is inseperable from God.As the apostle paul said,"Now the Lord is that Spirit:and where the Spirit of the Lord is,there is liberty" 2nd cor 3:17.
Further,God says,"I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh....'Acts 2:17 Hmmm interesting.Jesus was "full of the Holy Spirit....' luke 4:1; and on the day of pentecost, the disciples were"filled with the Holy Spirit..." acts 2:4.Notice the expressions"poured out, full of, and filled with".These expressions show that the New Testament writters thought of the Holy spirit, not as a "Third Person" of the Godhead, but as a spiritual power flowing from God.
Jesus decription of the Comforter(or helper)he will send from the father is also best understood as figurative language, especially in view of the fact that toward the end of his discourse He said,'These things have I spoken to you in proverbs[or figurative language...]John 16.
The spiritual presence(indwelling)of the Father and the Son is"the comforter"
God bless

Why keep beleiving the concept of three person in the Godhead. John 4:24 declares that God is a spirit. And our Lord Jesus in Luke 24:39 stated "For a spirit hath not flesh and bone"
Is a spirit a person.
We can be sure that there is one person in the Godhead. Colossians 2:9 "For in him dwelleth all the fullness of the Godhead bodily".
The Godhead (or the complete operation of God) has many manifestations. According the the scriptue in Colossians there is only one person. Our Lord Jesus.
One contributor stated something like he was a father, son and spirit so he was three persons in one. I prefer to think of this as one person but three different operations. Sonny

A good way to examine what you believe is to do your very best to prove the opposite is true. If you believe in a Tinity, then do your best, using Scripture, to prove that God is only one "Person" ... and vv. If you only look for support for what you already believe, you will always find it.

How do you figure? So who is the Son, the Father and the Holy Spirit found in the Bible?

Please, read this:

The article on the trinity a wonderful explanation of the doctrine and I do not question the fact that in the grace period that we now live in there are three operation of the Godhead. The father, son and Holy Ghost. I can find no scripture to verify the fact 3 person comprise the Godhead. I hope to have and explanation of my finding in a new thread within a couple of weeks. Titled -Mysteries of the Godhead 2 edition.
I thank you for the wonderful forum and am enjoying the spiritual uplifting I receive from my new found Christian brother and sisters.
The items written by me is not to cause a debate but to open other ideas for bible studies.
Yours in Christ Sonny
