Reading the Book of Acts, one can readily see that this Church that turned their world upside down. A Church that was energized by the power of the Holy Spirit. Think about some of the notable characteristics and accomplishments of that Church, and then compare that with the Church of today and you can clearly see a vast differences between the two.
The 1st Century Church shook the religious world to its' foundations.
Upset the sttatus quo of a Jewish religious system that had allowed the covenant God gave to Abraham and Moses to generate into man-made rules and harsh legalism.
It exposed popular false cults/ religion of the day, in one case resulting in the burning of occult/witchcrasft books worth millions of dollars.
The Church exercised dominion over the powers of darkness, casting out devils, and causing a sorcerer to be struck blind when he tried to stop the preaching of the Gospel.
They evangelized Asia Minor ( present day Turkey and parts of Greece) so effectively that the Bible records in Acts 19:10, and this continued by the space of two years; so that all they which dwelt in Asia heard the Word of the Lord Jesus, both Jews and Greeks.
Multitudes of people were swept into the Kingdom of God by the preaching of the Gospel and the supernatural confirmation of that Word
This Church lived in and ministeredd in the presence and power of God.
God confirmed the Word they preached with supernatural/ miraculous signs and wonders.
