Hear my prayer, O LORD, And let my cry come to You. Do not hide Your face from me in the day of my trouble; Incline Your ear to me; In the day that I call, answer me speedily. Psalm 102:1-2 NKJV

Psalm 102 is the prayer of an unnamed man who is feeling afflicted and sick—physically and emotionally. Worse yet, he seems to wonder where God is in his suffering. He knows that God is good and compassionate toward those He loves, but he feels like God is far, far away at this time in his life.

Have you ever felt like this psalmist? Have you ever felt as though God didn’t see your suffering or your problems—or if He did see, He wasn’t willing to comfort or deliver you? If so, then pray the way the psalmist did. Ask God to assure you that He hears you when you cry out to Him, that He is not hiding from you, and that He wants to answer your prayers.

The Bible says over and over that God sees and hears when His beloved people suffer, that He wants to be there for them during good times and difficult times alike. That’s true, no matter how you may feel today.

Prayer: Father, when I’m in a difficult situation and in desperate need of answers, help me to be unshakable in the truth that You want me to call out to You and that You won’t hide Yourself from me.
