Prayer Request Re Nursing School

I would like to request prayer from any who are willing, that the Lord would arrange matters so that I can attend nursing school this September.

With His assistance and grace, I have passed the entrance exam with the highest score possible, and against all odds, I have received enough in grants, a student loan and creative financing to cover my tuition. My husband and I prayed for this and are just thrilled. (Even my books and uniforms got covered! Praise the Lord!)

Now there seems to be a big block in our plans. My husband is in real estate and while there are plenty of housing sales these days, it seems the banks and mortgage companies are jamming up the works so the closings are delayed and delayed and delayed.

If you could pray that the Lord would free up our finances and remove the obstacles from my husband's real estate closings (i.e. our paychecks coming in!), so that I could attend nursing school this fall, I would greatly appreciate it. I have a part time job right now and if his deals don't start closing I will not be able to quit my job to attend school (it's required that I go to school full time and students are not allowed to work because the program is so intensive).

Being a nurse has been a desire of my heart my whole life, but I've never had the opportunity to realize it until now. It is not something I can put off. If I don't do it now, I never will as I'm in my 50s. We have been so happy and rejoicing in the Lord's goodness as prayers were answered regarding the testing, my interviews with the school, my GPA/transcripts being good enough, my essay, and especially the financing. I've been accepted into the program and am standing firm in faith that the Lord has brought me this far that He will not drop me.

Thank you to those willing to pray that my husband will have enough closings so that I can quit working for 1 year to go to nursing school starting this September.
Thank you and God Bless you!

I have just been praying for you and your husband. Do let us know how things go. God bless.

A Short Update:

Financial Aid Dept. had me come in today. It seems there was an over estimation in our income level last year when they did the initial paperwork, and they discovered that I qualify for the highest amount possible on my Pell Grant! Praise God for His goodness!

My husband discovered a hidden snag today that has been delaying one of his closings. Now he's been able to get the wheels in motion to get that snag smoothed out and move closer to a closing. We are thanking the Lord for revealing the hidden problem!

We are still standing in faith for answer to the prayer that I be able to stop working for the next year to complete nursing school and that my hubby's real estate deals would close (no closings scheduled yet but plenty in the pipeline).

We have much to be thankful for. I had to take my hubby to the ER with dizzy spells every 1-3 minutes, some uncontrolled jerking of the eyes and bad headache. Our doctor worried about an aneurysm, but the CT scan showed no tumor or aneurysm PRAISE THE LORD!!!! Tomorrow we go to the doctor for a follow up. He's getting much better so we are expecting a good report! Prayers for my sweetheart would be appreciated as well.

Thank you for praying for us Halva.

Another Update:

My Husband: My husband's doctor appointment we uneventful today in that the doctor can't figure out what is wrong. They have put him on a prescription for the next week. If he has any more symptoms after that he will have to go in for an MRI.

Nursing School: My husband and I will be prayerfully making our final decision tonight as to whether or not I should go forward. I received confirmation from the govt. today that the grants and student loan have been approved, and my drug screening and finger printing have been scheduled for within the week. If I am not going to be able to go forward I feel I should not take the drug screening or finger printing with background check because the school pays for that and it just wouldn't be right to have them pay for it and then back out (or they might end up billing me for it!).

Continued prayer for my husband's health and for us to be able to swing me taking a year off for school would be appreciated, as well as for guidance in our decision making tonight.

Thanks and God Bless!

hi Alabaster, thanks for updating on the situation - have just prayed for you and your husband. God is good - that's great news about your financial aid. May God bless you both.

Thank you so much Halva!

My husband and I spoke tonight. He said that he is feeling very strongly that I should take the nursing program. He surprised me with the news that he had an interview today for a side job! It looks very promising and will cover the financial difference of me leaving my job for school in the fall with a bit of extra money to spare for gas and incidentals! They did not make their final decision, but it looks quite promising. We are believing for this job and after praying about it, we both feel that we should step out in faith and send me to nursing school.

Thank you so much for your prayers Halva. I treasure them! I feel the peace of the Lord this evening with the decision now made, and I feel a calm assurance from the Lord about my husband's health. God is so GOOD!

New Update:

My husband's health is doing great! No seizures and he's off medication, Praise the Lord!

Nursing school plans are clipping right along. :)

One BIG fly in the ointment: My hubby has still not had a closing. This means he hasn't had a paycheck in 2 months. So much red tape has been blocking the way. If anyone willing would pray that his closings would get scheduled next week, it would be greatly appreciated. We're completely out of money, have no gas for the cars and food is tight. Tomorrow I'm going to the local jewelers and sell the bracelet my husband gave me as a wedding gift. Gotta do what you gotta do, you know?

Thank you and God Bless you!

I will be praying for you dear Alabaster! Our Heavenly Father, I pray that you bring peace and abundance to Alabaster and her husband. May there knots be untied in their finances and may her situation work for the best in the way that You see fit dear Lord. Amen.:angel-animated:

Thank you Kamiller1972!

Good News!!! My husband has a closing scheduled this Friday! We are praying that nothing interferes with it at the last moment.

Trusting and believing that God will work all things together for our good according to His will! :)

Thank you so much for your prayers Brad. Thank you ALL for your prayers!

My husband has had two closings in the past 5 days and another scheduled for next week! Thanks be to the Lord!

My orientation for nursing school is on Tuesday.

It looks like their may have been an error in the amount of student aid I will be receiving, but I am praying hard that when the numbers are reviewed that my student aid will remain the same. We really do need it not to decrease if I'm going to be able to attend. I'm putting all my faith in the Lord to see this through to completion. Praying hard that my financial aid package remains unchanged!

Thank you all so much for caring and for praying for our needs. May God bless you!

God is so good. As a wise woman says to me all the time: "If God ain't worried about it. Then don't you worry about it'"

Thank you for your encouragement Falconbrother.

And thank you to everyone who has been praying!

My husband has now had several closings and the bills are getting caught up, my financing did not go down by even one single penny! God is so good!!!! I now have been given all my books, uniforms, equipment and so forth, including my first reading assignment to be completed before school starts!

My husband has been feeling great with no more symptoms!

Praise the Lord for His goodness and His gracious mercy!

A Final Update

In the end I was unable to start in the nursing program.

A nurse I know tipped me off that the school was losing an important accreditation. I would have still been able to sit for my state licensure for LPN, but none of my education would have transferred for me to complete my RN and after calling numerous facilities in my area, I learned that if the school did not regain regional accreditation that no facility under the oversight of the Joint Commission would hire me (meaning I would only be able to work in some private nursing homes, private practice and some home health care agencies.

My husband and I decided it was not good stewardship to spend the money on a less than quality education, so I am going to pray about whether I should apply to another nursing school or not. At the moment I'm not certain. I'm grateful that God brought the necessary information to the forefront before class started so that I could cancel my enrollment rather than be in a position to have to drop. And I don't owe them a dime!

Now I'm praying for a good job! I'm already certified nationally as a medical assistant, and I'm praying for a good private practice or hospital position (hospital preferred). Currently I have picked up a part time job in a local health food store while I search for a medical assisting position.

Prayer in that direction would be appreciate by any who feel so led!
Thanks!
