I have this close friend, Anthony, who has been going through a lot lately. He feels alone and depressed, his Grandfather just died and he's not dealing with it very well. He tells me he just wants to go get drunk every night and forget. He used to have a problem with drugs, but he hasn't done it in months. I'm really afraid he's going to start up again. I'm afraid he's going to hurt himself because he feels like no one in the world cares about him and it sure seems like that, even to me. We used to be really close friends but I hurt him too, and now I'm trying to help him but he doesn't trust me and he has no reason to. I don't know what to do, or what to say to comfort him. He asked me the other night why life mattered anyway, and I couldn't come up with a single good answer. I try to talk to him about God, but I'm just can't get it across because I've been straying too, because I'm just as bad as him. All I can do is pray for him, pray that he has the strength to get through this, to see the amazing guy I see when I look at him. Please pray for him. I really do love him but I don't know how to love right and he needs to love of God. Pray that he finds strength, comfort, peace. Pray that he finds Jesus, if not through me than through someone else.

Dear penandink, i am sorry about your friend.

i will be praying,

perhaps you can invite him here at TJ where he can find a lot of Christian friends.

abigya

i will pray for you both

I too was a alcoholic and lost, the lord JESUS can set you and your friend free from the bondage of sin and give you eternal life in his kingdom which will last forever. but one must come to him on his terms, which is this,THE TRUE GOSPEL THAT CAN SAVE YOUR SOUL, testifying BOTH TO THE JEWS, AND ALSO TO THE GREEKS, REPENTANCE TOWARD GOD, AND FAITH TOWARD OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST. acts 20:21). BUT SHOWED first unto them of Damascus, and at Jerusalem, and throughout all the coasts of Judea, and then to the gentiles, that they should REPENT AND TURN TO GOD, AND DO WORKS MEET SUITABLE) FOR REPENTANCE. ACTS 26:20).

Moreover brethren, I declared unto you the Gospel which I preached unto you, which also you have received, and wherein you stand, by which also you are saved if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless you have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures, And that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the scriptures: And that He was seen of Cepheus, then of the twelve. After that, He was seen of about 500 brethren at once, of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some have fallen asleep 1 Corinthians 15:1-6).

IN WHOM YOU ALSO TRUSTED , AFTER THAT YOU HEARD THE WORD OF TRUTH, THE GOSPEL OF YOUR SALVATION: IN WHOM ALSO AFTER THAT YOU BELIEVED, YOU WERE SEALED WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT OF PROMISE. Ephesians 1:12-13). THAT THE GOD OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST, THE FATHER OF GLORY, MAY GIVE UNTO YOU THE SPIRIT OF WISDOM AND REVELATION IN THE KNOWLEDGE OF HIM. Ephesians 1:17).

but I make known to you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached by me is not according to man. for I neither received it from man, nor was I taught it, but it came through the revelation of Jesus Christ." Galatians 1:11-12).

For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation to everyone that believes, to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. Romans 1:16).

To learn what repentance is there is this great article on this site called repentance by born again11 this will help you know what repentance is according to Gods word. if you want to add me as a contact please do. may the lord JESUS help you and your friend, and if there is anything else i could do just ask.

Greetings penandink,

yes, I will pray for your friend, Anthony. Tell him there are people from around the world praying for him right now, and that is because you DO care. Although he hurts now, he will think about your care for him, and it will strengthen him, even if it is not apparent to you.... been there, used to think about my grandpa... got even drunker.. thought it would help.

yes, pray for Anthony, and pray believing that the Lord hears your pleading for Anthony

Comfort Anthony, but my advice, and this could just be me talking, is don't preach at him. Try to understand that he is hurting... and show God's love in Jesus Christ by being a friend and not making him feel worse by telling him he's wrong in what he is doing.

I SHALL pray, as also abigya and judgement will too.

Bless you ...><>

I pray for your friend to find comfort in Christ, may he be taken from his darkness and placed into the light.
May the Lord be with him in his time of need .

God Bless

What a mighty God we serve, I love you Lord.
Father I bring Anthony to you, comfort him right now, let him hear your voice, remove the blindfolds release your peace over him. I come against addiction in the name of Jesus, bind that spirit for his body is your temple. Give Anthony a pure heart and a new mind. Help my sister who loves him dearly speak life into his situation, help her to be a light, let him see you through her. Lord give my sister strength, forgive her of all mistakes, let her walk into freedom, so she can enjoy the joy of your salvation.

I speak life into his body right now, I come against depression in the name of Jesus.
Amen

Sister don't be discourage, yes we all sin but you know the truth don't let your past make you feel unworthy. Get into the word of God and let that fire burn in your heart.

Here is some scripture to share with him.

Psalm 23:4 NIV
Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

Psalm 34:18 NIV
The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit

Psalm 147:3 NIV
He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.

Psalm 25
A Psalm of David.
1 To You, O LORD, I lift up my soul.
2 O my God, I trust in You;
Let me not be ashamed;
Let not my enemies triumph over me.
3 Indeed, let no one who waits on You be ashamed;
Let those be ashamed who deal treacherously without cause.

4 Show me Your ways, O LORD;
Teach me Your paths.
5 Lead me in Your truth and teach me,
For You are the God of my salvation;
On You I wait all the day.

6 Remember, O LORD, Your tender mercies and Your lovingkindnesses,
For they are from of old.
7 Do not remember the sins of my youth, nor my transgressions;
According to Your mercy remember me,
For Your goodness’ sake, O LORD.

8 Good and upright is the LORD;
Therefore He teaches sinners in the way.
9 The humble He guides in justice,
And the humble He teaches His way.
10 All the paths of the LORD are mercy and truth,
To such as keep His covenant and His testimonies.
11 For Your name’s sake, O LORD,
Pardon my iniquity, for it is great.

12 Who is the man that fears the LORD?
Him shall He[a] teach in the way He chooses.
13 He himself shall dwell in prosperity,
And his descendants shall inherit the earth.
14 The secret of the LORD is with those who fear Him,
And He will show them His covenant.
15 My eyes are ever toward the LORD,
For He shall pluck my feet out of the net.

16 Turn Yourself to me, and have mercy on me,
For I am desolate and afflicted.
17 The troubles of my heart have enlarged;
Bring me out of my distresses!
18 Look on my affliction and my pain,
And forgive all my sins.
19 Consider my enemies, for they are many;
And they hate me with cruel hatred.
20 Keep my soul, and deliver me;
Let me not be ashamed, for I put my trust in You.
21 Let integrity and uprightness preserve me,
For I wait for You.
