Back in Oct. 2004 I was diagnosed with a cancer called, "Hodgkin's Lymphoma." You could look it up on Google if you'd like.
I was thought to be in the last stages of it, but was found to actually be in the second stage of the cancer. In other words it wasn't growing all over my body.
During this time I was not a Christian, I was a hypocrite and a false convert, so I didn't understand God's grace and justice. I was living in sin, and thank God that because of this diseases and the events down the road caused me to find God and be born again. (Oct. 2006)
I've went through 3 different treatment plans (because the previous plan had failed and I relapsed -meaning the cancer came back - ) And a little over a year ago (in April 2007) I was told I had cancer for the 4th time and this time there wasn't anymore chemotherapy or radiation they could give me, and left me without hope. I was supposed to die within weeks, but praise the Lord that He did not allow this to happen. I grew in the Word and fed off the words of Jesus in the Bible. "If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be given you." (John 15:7 NIV)
Now that a year has passed, because of recent PET scans (of my chest and neck) they have found that the cancer has slowly begun to progress. I was told about a treatment called "Interferon" which is supposed to help my immune system fight and kill the cancer cells (it gives you flu-like symptoms) They didn't think my previous stemcell transplant (they wiped out my immune system with heavy chemo and gave me the baby stem cells from another person's body that matched mine, in order to create a new immune system in me) ..would go so well, but because of the results I'm now taking Interferon.
For the next 6 months (possibly more) I will be on this treatment, it's an injection I have to give myself Mon, Wed, and Friday and they slowly increase the dosage as time goes on...
I hate the side effects though, it's makes you tired and gives you low grade fevers. (There's also a risk for Graft-versus-host-disease) School will be starting for me soon (senior year! last year should have been my senior year, but because of the cancer it's held me back in school) and I don't want to miss out on my last year of high school. I'm in marching band too (I play trombone)...and I need the strength to participate. Plus, I want to continue the Bible study at my school and spread God's word and the salvation that is only found in Christ.
Please pray that God heals my body fully, that He'll use this medicine to backfire the cancer and that He'll give me strength every day to be in band and lead the Bible study at my school...it's my heart's desire, and I just really need your prayers, especially for my healing. And pray that the medicine doesn't create Graft-versus-host disease in me.. I don't believe it will, because it's going great so far. The swollen lymphnodes in my neck are going down and not swelling as much because of the Interferon (which means it's working =) )
Thankyou so much, my brothers and sisters in the faith.
In Christ,
