This fact is important in dividing the Word of God as it relates to this account. Peter along with the other disciple, who I believe is John, enter into the palace of Annas first.
Then the band and the captain and officers of the Jews took Jesus, and bound him.
John 18:12
And led him away to Annas first; for he was father in law to Caiaphas, which was the high priest that same year.
John 18:13
Now Caiaphas was he, which gave counsel to the Jews, that it was expedient that one man should die for the people.
John 18:14
And Simon Peter followed Jesus and so did another disciple: that disciple was known unto the high priest, and went in with Jesus into the palace of the high priest.
John 18:15
A damsel kept the palace door. The disciple went into the palace leaving Peter outside. The disciple comes back outside, talks to the damsel, and Peter is admitted.
But Peter stood at the door without. Then went out that other disciple, which was known unto the high priest, and spake unto her that kept the door, and brought in Peter.

This damsel questions Peter in regard to his being a disciple of the Lord Jesus.

Each verse, from each Gospel book, remains in the order written, as one big story compiled from all the fragments.
Verses were omitted in the Gospel accounts since these all dealt with the council interrogation and did not bear directly on the study. The omissions did not pretend the chronology or the study.
This account should bolster our determination to dig into Gods word since a casual reading obscures and hinders full knowledge and blessing.
Also evident is the importance of studying every word of scripture to derive revelation and exactitude. This can be seen in verses such as; John 18:13 and Matthew 26:57 in regard to Annas and Caiaphas: John 18:18 and Mark 14:53 in which Peter stood at one fire, and sat at another: John 18 in which Peter stood with them and warmed himself in verse 18, and stood and warmed himself in verse 25.
The simple word them does not appear in verse 25 which differentiates the two and determines placement.
This amazing account should further anchor our soul and spirit to the fact that God inspired these men to write; and to anchor us to The Living Word, The Lord Jesus Christ.
