Their idols [are] silver and gold, The work of men's hands. They have mouths, but they do not speak; Eyes they have, but they do not see; They have ears, but they do not hear; Noses they have, but they do not smell; They have hands, but they do not handle; Feet they have, but they do not walk; Nor do they mutter through their throat. Psalm 115:4-7 NKJV
The worship of some is relegated to the worship of movie props, carved ducks, and artful clay. But none of those things can do anything because they aren’t real. They can’t speak because they have no voice. They can’t run because they have no feet. They can’t hear, smell, or see. They are mere objects—perhaps beautiful and appreciated. But there is no power in a painting, statue, or anything else. God called this king of worship response idolatry.
Today’s verses are instructive for people considering the possibility that a deity could claim a thing and give it a power greater than God. A statue stands, paintings hang, and carved ducks sit on shelves. They don’t rescue, reward, or redeem.
It’s faulty thinking to assume otherwise, and it’s another reason why coming to God with every bit of who you are is a sensible option. He can rescue. He rewards those who seek Him with all their hearts.
Prayer: You don’t need my permission to be awesome, God. You just are. You do want my permission to change me from the inside out-and I give You that permission. Make real change when everything else is a debris field of broken promises.

Question: This devotional brought me the question: Is not the current hot topic of mankind, and I am sure has been researched for a while now in Artificial Intelligence (AI), an attempt by mankind to Create their own god in place of the One True God?
