The following passage was introduced to me, by a homosexual man, when he was claiming that the practice of being homosexual was not a sin before God. This is the scripture that he based the foundation of his belief on.

Luke 17:34 (Whole Chapter)
I tell you, in that night there shall be two men in one bed; the one shall be taken, and the other shall be left.

Two men in one bed. I was accused of being homophobic. I don't hate the person, I just don't agree with the action. Your comments sure would be appreciated.

Thank you and Amen:Pixie:rainbow: :rose:

This is from the New International Version
Luke 17:26-35
26"Just as it was in the days of Noah, so also will it be in the days of the Son of Man. 27People were eating, drinking, marrying and being given in marriage up to the day Noah entered the ark. Then the flood came and destroyed them all.

28"It was the same in the days of Lot. People were eating and drinking, buying and selling, planting and building. 29But the day Lot left Sodom, fire and sulfur rained down from heaven and destroyed them all.

30"It will be just like this on the day the Son of Man is revealed. 31On that day no one who is on the roof of his house, with his goods inside, should go down to get them. Likewise, no one in the field should go back for anything. 32Remember Lot's wife! 33Whoever tries to keep his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life will preserve it. 34I tell you, on that night two people will be in one bed; one will be taken and the other left. 35Two women will be grinding grain together; one will be taken and the other left."

Tell this man that in the days of Noah, God destroyed the world with a flood because of sin and homosexuality. He should listen to the voice of God and not to the lustful and sinful desires.

He should also not take the Word of God out of context.

The Bible clearly says homosexuality is wrong.
1 Corinthians 6:9-10
9Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders 10nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.

God bless you sister

You are right teraside. There a tonnes out there, that love to twist the word of God around. It is only mentioned in the King James Bible and perhaps it was just as stated, "two men were sleeping in one bed". The key word being SLEEPING, not having sex.

I don't think I will ever have contact with that fellow again, as it was way back when I checked out the yahoo chat Christian site. It is a terrible way to share fellowship.

Take care and love:Pixie:love: :rose:

The word "men" wasn't in the original Greek text. Hard to say why some translations added it, some didn't, and others use a different noun. In any case, it's just a generic use of the word. The words "people" or "individuals" could just have easily been used.

In any case, the guy is just trying to pervert the bible to condone his own perversions.

Romans 1:27
"In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion."

The due penalty Paul says is death.
If that doesn't make him a little nervous, nothing will.

Psalm 51:10 "Create in me a pure heart, O God and renew a steadfast spirit within me."

The simple answer to your question is that the homosexual who presented this question is cheating, and just trying to confuse you. A more in depth answer is that he knows nothing about the Greek language.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

The English translation is often given as in the Good News Bible.
“On that night, I tell you, there will be two people sleeping in the same bed: one will be taken away, the other will be left behind.”

Now let’s look at it in the Greek. The Greek says that there will be DUO in the one KLINE.

Duo means, as it does in English, two.
Kline (klee-nay) can mean bed. But it is more often used to mean the couch that people ate on. Remember that the Greeks, and the Hebrews of Christ’s time, ate relining on a couch. Not on chairs. Depending on the couch, there were one to three people reclining on this couch.
As at the Last Supper, where St. John the Apostle was with Jesus on the same couch.

The Greek literally says “I tell you that there shall be two in one KLINE one will be taken and one left.”

The first question to ask in translating this verse is two what? The Greek does not say. From the context it must be two human beings. More than that the translator must decide on his own. When the King James translators went to translate it, they decided for whatever reason, that Kline here must be translated bed.

Translators who use the KJV as a guideline for translating also use bed. What do you do in a bed? You sleep. Therefore the two whatever must be sleeping, so the word sleeping has to be added since it isn‘t in the Greek. And for similar unexplained reasons, they added the word men here in the KJV. Anthros, man, is not in the Greek, and was apparently added at random, without anybody thinking about it.

Logically speaking, even if we are to go with the definition of Kline as bed, the most logical assumption to make is that the two sleeping in the same bed are husband and wife, not a pair of sodomites.

Homosexuality is a demonic spirit...

Hi Pixie,

You could try some of the following scriptures.

Leviticus 18:22, & 24-30 says:
22 " 'Do not lie with a man as one lies with a woman; that is detestable.

24 " 'Do not defile yourselves in any of these ways, because this is how the nations that I am going to drive out before you became defiled. 25 Even the land was defiled; so I punished it for its sin, and the land vomited out its inhabitants. 26 But you must keep my decrees and my laws. The native-born and the aliens living among you must not do any of these detestable things, 27 for all these things were done by the people who lived in the land before you, and the land became defiled. 28 And if you defile the land, it will vomit you out as it vomited out the nations that were before you.

29 " 'Everyone who does any of these detestable things—such persons must be cut off from their people. 30 Keep my requirements and do not follow any of the detestable customs that were practiced before you came and do not defile yourselves with them. I am the LORD your God.' "

You might remind him of 2 Timothy 3:16 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness,

Armed with some of the other New Testament scriptures that specifically say that homosexuality is a sin you've got a very strong case. It's important that these people know what the Biblical standard is so that they have an opportunity to repent.

I've heard that people who practice such things often have complex emotional problems that need sorting out.
As Christians we probably all agree that homosexuality is an extremely abnormal life style. But behind the abnormality is a series of abnormal emotional issues that have never been resolved.
A friend of mine who often dealt with such people said it's like they have an area of their emotional life that has never experienced the love of a Dad and there is always the longing within for that experience. So the devil comes along with the temptation of homosexuality and a counterfeit for a Dad's love, and that's how some get caught in this life style.

I would also add that this is a demonic spirit, it is a spirit of homosexuality that invades a persons body if they give in to the temptation and commit the act.
From then on it seems to them as if the act is part of the nature and identity, But as Christians we know from the word of God it isn't.

This sort of bondage often needs someone to stand in the gap and pray for a break through. What such people need is a revelation of their heavenly Dad's love, that is a permanent cure for the devils counterfeit.

Blessings,
Tonyb

Good answers Tonyb

Hi Tonyb. It's Pixie. I like what you wrote. Yes above all, we must have compassion and understanding for these (sometimes), victims. Inside many of these people lives a soul, which has been cut off by a life that is contrary to the love of God.
Some homosexuals try and link up with Christ, while continuing there abnormal lifestyle. It is a contradiction and will not bring them closer to our God of decent love, that being decency in all aspects of our life, including respecting the individual and loving the sinner but not the sin.

Matthew 9:13 (Whole Chapter)
But go and learn what this means: 'I desire mercy, not sacrifice.' [ Hosea 6:6] For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners."

It is easy to get caught up in judgement, but we must "learn" that Jesus goes anywhere to save the lost sheep.
You sound like you have a merciful heart Tonyb. That is a blessing for you.
I myself don't like the idea of abnormal sexual relations, but I do believe that many of these folks are calling out to God and to others, for meaning.
I guess a special prayer for all that live in sin is needed by us always. Living in sin, never leads to true happiness in our Lord Jesus Christ.
May the Lord bless us all and heal our wounds. May we all be resurrected in Christ Almighty. Amen:Pixie:love: :note: :rainbow:

I'm grateful of all the responses here (very wise advice and Scripture quoted). I'm also happy to see you [Pixie] wanting to reach out to this homosexual. It is important to focus on what Jesus would do. Keep in mind that sometimes, often from my experience people who claim to be believers and live an obvious contradicting lifestyle like this man will try hard to cut corners and make excuses. Even dangerously (only GOD knows) take the Word out of context to attempt to justify themselves and possibly mocking GOD. Its seriously ridiculous that one would even dare to say that the Bible condones homosexuality.

Pray for the Spirit to convict him and guide him to Jesus, also to guide you to do what the Spirit's will to do.

Luke 17:34

the best way to witness to homosexuals

you witness to them the same way you would anyone else. homosexuality is one of the few sins god call abomination, but the ultimate sin is rejection of the gift of god christ jesus. jesus says if you do not believe that i am he you will die in your sins john ch8 vs 24. im my life prior to christ i was involved in habitual drug use, and i always justified my drug use. so when people would witness to me and dwell on that issue alone i would automatically get defensive, but when someone showed me my sin nature and the penalty for sin (in general). i was eager to hear the solution. JESUS! the spirit will always bear witness to the word of god. instead of trying to rationalize with them on why that is wrong, get to the real issue sin nature, and let them know that god can and will change your life.
