As i was sitting earlier The Lord spoke to me on the subject of the first passover along with what one certian passover many years later would mean to every living person on this earth. I would like to share this with you now and hope the Lord speaks to you and fills you with His truth now and always.
Lets look first at Exodus12:3-5 Speak to all the congregation of Israel, saying:' On the tenth of this month every man shall take for himself a lamb, according to the house of his father, a lamb for a household. And if the household is too small for the lamb, let him and his neighbors next to his house take it according to the number of the persons; according to each man's need you shall make your count for the lamb. Your lamb shall be without blemish, a male of the first year.
Next lets take a look at Exodus:12:21-23 Then Moses called for all the elders of Israel and said to them,"Pick out and take lambs for yourselves
according to your families, and kill the Passover lamb. And you shall take a bunch of hyssop, dip it in the blood that is in the basin and strike the lintel and the two doorposts with the blood that is in the basin. And none of you shall go out of the door of his house until morning. For the Lord will pass through to strike the Egyptians; and when He sees the blood on the lintel and on the two doorposts, the Lord will pass over the door and not allow the destroyer to come into your houses to strike you.
Now let us travel forward to many years later to another Passover which we see in Matthew 26:17 Now on the first day of the Feast of the Unleavened Bread the disciples came to Jesus, saying to Him,"Where
do you want to us to prepare for You to eat the Passover"
Not long after this our Lord during this Passover was betrayed and given
over. Matt.26:48-50 Now His betrayer had given them a sign, saying " whomever I kiss He is the One; seize Him. Immediately he went up to Jesus and said," Greetings Rabbi!" and kissed Him. But Jesus said to him " Friend why have you come?" Then they came and laid hands on Jesus and took Him.
Following this our Lord would be beaten beyond anything we can imagine, mocked, spit on and then hung on a cross condemned to die. If you go to Isaiah53:7 you will see this... He was oppressed and He was afflicted, Yet He opened not His mouth; He was led as a lamb to the slaughter, And as a sheep before its shearers is silent, So He opened not His mouth.
Lets take a step back now and look at all of this and let me explain or should I say let our Good Lord explain what it all means. The very first Passover in Exodus was a foretelling of what was yet to come...It was telling of a Passover yet to come when God Himself would deliver His children, His own creation out of the bondage of sin. Just as the Israelites in Exodus killed the lamb without blemish so it was years later another perfect lamb without blemish would be killed...that one would be the very son of God...Jesus Christ the lamb of God...He was killed and just as the blood of the lamb in exodus kept the destroyer which was death from coming into the households so the blood of Jesus also covers us and death or the destroyer passes us over and we are saved.
God the Father knew even back during the first Passover what His plan was and that years later that plan would be put into action and that His son would become the passover lamb for each of us..providing a way for us to escape death...Jesus came into the world to bear witness
of the Father and to do His will and part of that will was that Jesus take
upon Himself the weight of the world and all its sin and shame and become our way to salvation. It was foretold in the Old Testament that God's greatest plan on another passover was yet to come...because it was during this Passover in the New Testament that Jesus our lamb without blemish was taken and killed ,it was and is His blood that cleanses us and keeps death from us so it passes over and we may live.
My friends as you read the book of exodus now I hope you will see it in a different light..as a foretelling of what was to come...God's great plan of salvation for us all..for a world that was so lost the only way for anyone to be saved was for The precious Lamb of God to die and His blood to cover us because without the shedding of blood there is no redemption for us.
I wish you a very wonderful and blessed Resurrection Day! For behold He is risen and conquered death!!! Praise God on High for Jesus lives and will live forever More!!!
