It is written “For as much then as Christ has suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves like wise with the same mind: for he that has “suffered in the flesh” has ceased from sin.”
Jesus said in the world we shall have “tribulation”, but in Him we shall have peace. Meaning inwardly we have His peace, but outwardly we shall suffer. Jesus said, all the way up to the days of John the Baptist, the kingdom of heaven has “suffered violence”, and the violent try to take it by force.
Jesus told His disciples, just as they had done to John, even the Son was to suffer many things at the hands of the elders, the chief priests, and the scribes. Paul said that if we are His children, then we are His heirs, being heirs of God, if so be that “we suffer with Him”, that we may be also glorified together. In 2 Corinthians 1:7 Paul says “you are partakers of the sufferings”. Paul says in Philippians 1:29 “For unto you it is given in the behalf of Christ, not only to believe on him, but also to “suffer for his sake.” In Phillipians 3:10 Paul called it the “fellowship of His sufferings” We are told in 2 Timothy that “if we suffer”, we shall also reign with Him.
Peter tells us, that if we suffer for righteousness sake, happy we are, and for us not to be afraid of their terror, neither be troubled; for it is better to suffer for well doing, than for evil doing. Peter says that we are partakers of Christs sufferings. And that if any of you suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God on this behalf.
Peter goes on to say “But the God of all grace, who has called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that you have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, and settle you.”
The call to self sacrifice and suffering for righteousness sake may not be the “health, wealth, and prosperity” doctrine people desire to hear: But truth be told, those who are in Christ shall suffer in this wicked world.
Jesus said, blessed are you, when men shall hate you, and when they shall separate you from their company, and shall reproach you, and cast out your name as evil, for the Son of man’s sake. Jesus said we would be hated of all men for His name sake: but he that would endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.
In your patience you posses your souls. Be blessed
