:embarasse "I knew a man in Christ above fourteen years ago, (whether in the body, I cannot tell; or whether out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;) such an one caught up to the third heaven."2 Cor 12:2

Paul alludes to an out of Body experience in this chapter, briefly describing an experience where he was taken to heaven and shown awesome things.

The BBC recently spoke of the beginnings of a new research by western scientists into the subject of Out-of-the Body experiences, an occurence that is on the increase especially in ICU's all round the world.

People have reported of experiences involving floating near ceilings and looking down at doctors operating on their bodies.

As the secular world continues to fight the notion of spiritual realities, science is on a new search that im afraid will not take people closer to God,but to the dark side of spirituality.

Any insight on out of the body experiences?

What does the bible say.

Jas 2:26 For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.

Without your spirit your body is dead. Paul was dead.

Because of the drastic side effect that takes place when your spirit leaves your body (Death) I doubt all those occultist are going to make a whole lot of progress in this area.

As for out of body experiences, It has been known that prayer has caused God to respond by sending a loved on back to the body, and healing start.

As you leave your earth suite, you can see, hear and still sense things, but have no legal right to operate on earth as a spirit, so hence no Ghost.

your appointed once to die. (Not that there is a set time, but you do have to die.) then judgment.

A lot of reports of out of body experiences are limited to complete dark as you leave your body, or bright light. God does not allow entrance into heaven or suffer you to have to see Hell, but it seems what is experienced is the effect of just leaving the body temporary in between one place or the other.

Also, being in the realm of the spirit, it would be possible to talk to devils or angels. so any information gained from such an experience could just be some lies the devil told and not to be counted for anything.

Some accounts of this, people have actually talked to Jesus, and he told them that they had to go back. Some have reported that the Lord asked them what they would like to do.

In any event, the realm of the spirit is greater and more real than this physical realm, and the notion that people can just gain the ability to leave their body and come back is silly, as it will almost always kill them to do so without God involved.

Jesus Is Lord.

You both are wrong and are clearly misinterpreting scripture.

Paul was not dead and he was not speaking of an out of body experience he had. He said he knew a man that could have been a spirit (angel, spirit?) and whether this man was a real man was the fact that only God knew.

I have to ask you both as a fellow brother in Christ to start posting according to scripture and not your opinion of it. Both your posts are flawed beyond repair.

The chapter does not deal with out of body experiences either he was speaking of God's grace and how we are to live in it.

Maybe the topic should be dismissed, we have churches that support books and videos on people who had out of body experiences in hell and heaven. Experiences no different to those in new age practices. So this might take on a debate.

When you have people claiming to be abducted by ufo's, wiccans believing they can travel to china from their bedrooms, and people seeing God scientist will challenge it. If you’ve ever watched a documentary on Discovery , A&E or History channel…they expose some of the stories as figments of the person’s imaginations, and the stories unexplainable remains a mystery .

I’m not going to touch ..out of body experiences, because I’ll have to tap into new age and the occult.
But I would say yes there is a spiritual world, scientist will make up their hypothesis to mislead the mass majority.

Let the scientist do their test, its our job to do our own test when people bring stories to us.

im afraid will not take people closer to God,but to the dark side of spirituality.

It's good to be inform but don't let the world affairs bother you, if you encourage your love ones and friends to read the bible and test the spirit deception is impossible.

"For Satan himself transforms himself into an ANGEL OF LIGHT. Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also transform themselves into ministers of righteousness, whose end will be according to their works." (2 Corinthians 11:14)

Beloved, do not believe every spirit, BUT TEST THE SPIRITS, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world.
By this you know the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is of God, and every spirit that does not confess that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is not of God. And this is the spirit of the antichrist, which you have heard was coming, and is now already in the world." (1 John 4:1-4)

Out of Body Experiences

"I know a man in Christ who fourteen years ago was caught up to the third heaven. Whether it was in the body or out of the body I do not know - God knows. And I know that this man - whether in the body or apart from the body I do not know, but God knows - was caught up to paradise." He heard inexpressible things, things that man is not permitted to tell (2 Cor 12:2-4)

Paul is saying that he knows for certain (as opposed to "somebody told me that..." or "it is rumored that.....") this event actually happened to someone he knows. He put his credibility on the line in these verses. In 1 Thess 5:21 he told us to "test everything". While he was referring specifically to prophesies there, who can doubt that he applied that guideline to all his experiences?
