Matthew 16:26
For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?

Matthew 6:19-21
19 Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:
20 But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:
21 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

It has been on my mind of late to why some people put so much effort into storing up treasures on this Earth in the hope that what they store up, will bring them much joy and happiness.
If money and material possessions were able to bring us unending joy and happiness, then there would be many happy and joyous millionaires.
Jesus is not expecting us to live in poverty and struggle for every morsel of food for our families, for He has said in John 16:24 Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full.
The majority of the population are trusting in themselves to create a 'kingdom' on Earth and as a result they become sick with worry when the dollars are not flowing because of loss of work, health issues and such all they have to look forward to is what they have stored up in this life! When their income is gone, their hopes and dreams fade with it. In reality this life is all they have and in death they will receive Eternal separation (in hell) from the One who loved them so very much, Jesus Christ.
If you are Saved, - one who is placing your trust in the Lord Jesus Christ, Acts 4:12 then the Scripture tells us that you have Eternal security. Jesus will supply our every need, not necessarily our every want and for that, we are grateful.
For the Saved, our joy is not based on what we have only in this life, but rather what we will receive when our Spirit leaves our Earthly body.
The greatest joy for the Saved is to meet and be with Jesus Christ our Lord and Saviour.

Romans 10:9
That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

Amen.

I believe our greatest Joy is the Love God has for us.

While we were yet sinners, Christ died for us! He gave us freedom! Halleluyah!
