Hello @Hitch,
Your subject heading asks the question:- 'Only 1,000 years?'
If you are referring to the reign of Christ, then no, it does not last for a mere 1,000 years. That time refers to the reward of the Overcomers, who will live and reign with Him for 1,000 years. What a privilege that is! Isn't it?
Without Christ there would be no history. No earth, no heaven, no world to dwell in and no inhabitant; for He as the living Word, Who in the beginning was with God, and who Himself is God, created the heavens and the earth and all that is therein. So, yes He will come again, as the Word of God says: and He will perform all that the Scriptures say concerning Him; for He must reign till He has put down all rule and authority, and the last enemy to be destroyed is death.
Within the love of Christ our Saviour,
Chris

Care to explain this ?
Hello
@Hitch,
The reign of Christ will last a lot longer than the 1,000 years (Revelation 11:15). The 1,000 years reign is the reward of the Overcomers, who will live and reign with Christ for that duration, as Priests of God and of Christ, as is seen in the Scripture below:-
'And I saw an angel come down from heaven,
having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand.
And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan,
and bound him
a thousand years,
And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him,
that he should deceive the nations no more,
till the thousand years should be fulfilled:
and after that he must be loosed a little season.
And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them:
and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded ( Revelation 6:9-11 )
for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God,
and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image,
neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands;
and
they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.
But the rest of the dead lived not again until
the thousand years were finished.
This is the first resurrection.
Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection:
on such the second death hath no power,
but they shall be priests of God and of Christ,
and shall reign with Him a thousand years.'
(Rev 20:1-6)
Some of those so rewarded are seen in Revelation 6:9-11:-
'And when he had opened the fifth seal,
I saw under the altar the souls of them that were slain
for the word of God, and for the testimony which they held:
And they cried with a loud voice, saying,
How long, O Lord, holy and true,
dost thou not judge and avenge our blood
on them that dwell on the earth?
And white robes were given unto every one of them;
and it was said unto them, that they should rest yet for a little season,
until their fellowservants also and their brethren,
that should be killed as they were,
should be fulfilled.'
(Rev 6:9-11)
Thank you
In Christ Jesus
Chris
