Quick answers. Daniel lived 400 years before Christ. Probably the book of Daniel was edited and finalised quite some time later.

Yes Antiochus Epiphanes desecrated the Temple. I think Jesus was talking about the destruction of the Temple 70 ad.
I'm in the camp that says the abomination that causes desolation stand in the Holy place is the antichrist or his image standing in the temple declaring himself to
be God and the last 3 and 1/2 yr tribulation period begins at that time.

In the Dan 8:17 and 19 it specifically says the END. That to me is the final kingdom coming to full power and the antichrist claiming to be God and demanding to be
worshiped as God in the temple. Which by the way the temple hasn't been rebuilt yet so we got some time to hide and watch.

But absolutely nothing to do with any of the characteristics of the beast as described in Revelation 13.

There are things happening in the world all around us that are, in appearance the forerunners for that which is prophesied to come.

The discussions we were having above were based on things seen now, which are showing they are heading towards the prophesies and how easy they will be to be implemented, the ground work is being prepared brother. We are not there yet but the birth pangs are being felt in the world, and the birth pangs come when close to the end.

Bless you

For those who think the events in Matt 24 already happened.. just curious did these things already happen? When?

Matt 24:27 "For just as the lightning comes from the east and flashes even to the west, so will the coming of the Son of Man be.

Mat 24:29 ; "But immediately after the tribulation of those days THE SUN WILL BE DARKENED, AND THE MOON WILL NOT GIVE ITS LIGHT, AND THE STARS WILL FALL from the sky, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken.
Mat 24:30; "And then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in the sky, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the SON OF MAN COMING ON THE CLOUDS OF THE SKY with power and great glory.
Mat 24:31; "And He will send forth His angels with A GREAT TRUMPET and THEY WILL GATHER TOGETHER His elect from the four winds, from one end of the sky to the other.

The way I hear One World Government being talked about, it is a slightly different concept to control of the whole world. For example at the peak of their powers the Roman Empire and the British Empire dominated the whole world. But that's not how I hear One World Governement being talked about. It seems the concept is closer to all nations uniting their individual powers and agreeing to be ruled as one. It's allied to fears about the influence of such global bodies as WTO, World Bank, United Nations
Actually no one ever controlled the whole world of all people after the tower of babel. The most those you spoke of did (I would put the greecian empire up there with rome as well) is controlled most of the world and those they didnt control didnt want to mess with them.

Hi Dave, I believe it's closer than people think; Don't you think it strange that the majority of countries are adhering to a lockdown over a virus that is killing no more than die in any bad flue pandemic. Also the lockdown, although we are told is voluntary, has the police on the streets arresting people, and in some cases violently. We are also being told that the lockdown will stay in place until a vaccine is found and this will be given linked to a method of tracking, There are some methods already being tested, In India and Britain on the Isle of Wight. It's also noticeable that certain peoples names keep popping up, People who's agenda is globalism, the Pope, George Soros, Bill Gates and many more. The Pope is now ditching Jesus for a multi-faith world where all beliefs are acceptable. He has believers throughout the world, George Soros has been ploughing money into globalist ventures for years and Bill Gates and his wife along with the other two are believers in the culling of the world population through contraception and abortion. Bill Gates is also involved in experiments with viruses claiming it's to find vaccines, while also working on tracking IT. Along with this, we are being warned of credit card scams that apparently have relieved many of millions of pounds worth of currencies. The next move I can envisage is replacing credit cards with chips that it will be harder, if not impossible to scam. maybe I'm cynical, but it looks pretty iffy to me. However we are aliens in this world and our King has promised never to leave us of forsake us, and as he's never, not been there for me, I am by no means losing my joy. Bless all on talk Jesus.

well said brother, I concur brother. ..My joy for Jesus increases daily, my walk grows stronger. This was a blessing for me, as it was a wake up call to get more serious about God, Time is short, dont want to waist it on things of this world.

The Mongol empire actually controlled the largest empire on the face of the earth. It controlled roughly 25% of the land mass of the entire earth, and had roughly
110 million people within their empire around 1300. This was a small percentage of world population at the time but still more individuals than the Romans.
By comparison the Romans controlled 50-90 million people which was about 20% of the worlds population, and land mass control was about the size of the US.
Just a toss in for info.

Well, I was mainly refering to people overall, but I didnt know their population was greater. Cant say they had much to admire in treatment of friends and enemies. They were a warrior culture sorta like sparta, but more barbaric and focused on fighting while on horseback, and they excelled at that. I was thinking about percentage of the worlds population. It was only at babel that it included everyone.

That's a theme in the new testament, but many who call themselves Christians don't even know they are in a war.
Yet there are several passages similar to...

Eph 6:11; Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil.
Eph 6:12; For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.
Eph 6:13; Therefore, take up the full armor of God, so that you will be able to resist in the evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm.
Eph 6:14; Stand firm therefore, HAVING GIRDED YOUR LOINS WITH TRUTH, and HAVING PUT ON THE BREASTPLATE OF RIGHTEOUSNESS,
Eph 6:15; and having shod YOUR FEET WITH THE PREPARATION OF THE GOSPEL OF PEACE;
Eph 6:16; in addition to all, taking up the shield of faith with which you will be able to extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.
Eph 6:17; And take THE HELMET OF SALVATION, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
Eph 6:18; With all prayer and petition pray at all times in the Spirit, and with this in view, be on the alert with all perseverance and petition for all the saints,

Shield, sword, armor? Our struggle? Against the powers of darkness? Against spiritual forces? Many don't even know this is still going on everyday.

Rom 7:23; but I see a different law in the members of my body, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin which is in my members.

Waging war against my mind? What is this?

2Cor 10:3; For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh,

Ok, we are not in a material (flesh) battle, but then what battle is he speaking of here?

1Pet 2:11; Beloved, I urge you as aliens and strangers to abstain from fleshly lusts which wage war against the soul.

It seems the battle here is for the soul, not the body.

There are a few more... but it seems the battle is still going on.

So true brother,

That is why the devil is often referred to as 'the enemy of souls'

Death to the carnality you lived in until your day of salvation, Though you are saved your greatest enemy is your carnal mind as it wants to play God and not be
subject to Gods rule. It loves to be afraid, enjoys unrighteousness, selfishness, fear of death, and greed. It looks for opportunity to fulfill the lusts of the flesh and relishes
the thought of abundance of self fulfillment like a dog gorging on a dead animal til it throws up then eats some more.
The eye is never satisfied with the seeing, nor the ear filled with the hearing. It, the carnal mind always wants more, more, and more.
The only time it is filled is when it is dead.

There is symbology to the destruction of the carnal mind in the destruction of the 5 tribes that were in the promised land when God brought the Israelites to Gilgal.
It was from this starting point that their war for life and possession of the land began, with God along side them to drive out and kill all the inhabitants in the land.

Spiritually speaking we are to destroy the lusts of our flesh which are derived by our 5 senses, which will ultimately bring death to the carnal mind as the mind
of Christ is formed within us.

See the similarity in the 5 tribes, put there to be destroyed and possess the land, and your 5 senses put there for you to destroy and possess your bodies (dirts)
actions, and both with Gods help.

Matthew 24:27-30 is a prophecy of Jesus' return. It hasn't happened yet.
Agreed. But usually a certain grouping of verses (especially if it's one long discourse by Jesus) are all about the same time frame.
From Matthew 24:4 all the way to Matthew 24:51 is all one conversation, one discourse, one context.

If we take this verse...

Matt 24:21; "For then there will be a great tribulation, such as has not occurred since the beginning of the world until now, nor ever will.

...and we say this was 70AD. (Which only affected Jerusalem) would that be worse than these verses..?

Rev 8:7; The first sounded, and there came hail and fire, mixed with blood, and they were thrown to the earth; and a third of the earth was burned up, and a third of the trees were burned up, and all the green grass was burned up.
Rev 8:8; The second angel sounded, and something like a great mountain burning with fire was thrown into the sea; and a third of the sea became blood,
Rev 8:9; and a third of the creatures which were in the sea and had life, died; and a third of the ships were destroyed.
Rev 8:10; The third angel sounded, and a great star fell from heaven, burning like a torch, and it fell on a third of the rivers and on the springs of waters.
Rev 8:11; The name of the star is called Wormwood; and a third of the waters became wormwood, and many men died from the waters, because they were made bitter.
Rev 8:12; The fourth angel sounded, and a third of the sun and a third of the moon and a third of the stars were struck, so that a third of them would be darkened and the day would not shine for a third of it, and the night in the same way.

Verse 12 here... a third of the day, the sun does not shine. Does this have any similarity to Matt 24:22 at all here?

Rev 9:15; And the four angels, who had been prepared for the hour and day and month and year, were released, so that they would kill a third of mankind.
Rev 9:18; A third of mankind was killed by these three plagues, by the fire and the smoke and the brimstone which proceeded out of their mouths.
Rev 11:14; The second woe is past; behold, the third woe is coming quickly.
Rev 16:4; Then the third angel poured out his bowl into the rivers and the springs of waters; and they became blood.

If we look at Matt 24:21.. and it is speaking of a great tribulation, the greatest that ever happened in the history of the world.
Then we look at the tribulation in Revelation where a third of mankind dies, a third of the rivers turn to blood, a third of the trees and grass are burned up.
Another third of mankind dies, a third of the rivers and lakes are poisoned. A third of all life in the sea will die.

Doesn't that seem way worse than the city of Jerusalem being sacked to you? (I am leaving out a lot of the Revelation judgments, there are many more as bad or worse).

The literary mode of Revelation is apocalyptic - highly symbolic, dreamlike, extraordinarily vivid.

Matthew has a nod in this direction in chapter 24, but it's a far more prosaic account than Revelation.

That accounts for much of the discrepancy between the two.

And yet vision and prophecies in the Bible, never disagree with the reality of the situation. Daniel and ancient Babylon/Greece case in point.
I would say the the 4 beasts in Daniel are equally symbolic, were actually in a dream (dreamlike?) and yet you have no problem attributing these to actual events.

Yes, real events, but not described literally. I'm not expecting the world to be worshipping a seven-headed see monster.

Still the literal parts of the interpretation .. literally happened.
His kingdom was taken away. He did die, and even Egypt was subjected to this for a while.

I believe in Revelation if it literally says a third of mankind and sea creatures will die... then it will literally happen.

I'm hearing a lot of anxiety about one world government recently.

The thing is, the Bible never warns about a one world government, or even mentions it. And that is taking into account that the known world was ruled by a single Roman emperor.

It seems to me to be hugely unlikely that any of the world's major powers will be willing to cede autonomy

Why so much concern?
Don't underestimate the globalist, there are trillionairs among them. They are buying politicians throughout the world, that's why we're finding it hard to understand why our politicians are making the decisions they are making. In Britain our government are allowing the country to be invaded by immigrants, Why? the immigrants are not being checked for the virus. Airplanes are landing and the passengers are not being checked. This defies reason when the country is in lockdown under the pretence of safety. These people are not stupid so there must be an alternative agenda. There are people who are disrupting this agenda; Donald Trump, Nigel Farage and others who who are nationalists, but look how they are being pilloried by the left-wing media, most of who are under the pay of men like George Soros. I was, a while ago spending a fair bit of time watching the EU government debates and what was telling, was that when certain politicians spoke a little box would come up against their name stating that they were funded by the George Soros foundations. He was funding a good percentage of the European government. That's how countries will line up in the last days and we need to keep our eyes on them. If there isn't central control, How will the mark be rolled out so that everybody takes it? Bless you
