There has never been a day like this one before or since, when the LORD answered such a prayer. Surely the LORD fought for Israel that day! Joshua 10:14 NLT
When the book of Joshua lay completed, the Bible says there still had never been a day like the day described in Joshua 10. Not for Adam, for Noah, or for Moses. It was Joshua’s one-of-a-kind day. The day the sun stood still.
But what about since?
Jesus healed many in His day, like the woman in Luke 13. Did that day compare to Joshua’s? Did it compare to the day the sun stood still?
It did for her.
Because He wasn’t interested in impressing the religious leaders or the cultural elite, Jesus listened and responded to the needs of people who needed miracles.
He still does.
And every time He listens and responds, that individual shares some of Joshua’s incredible day—the day when God listened to a human being.
Psalm 71 also demonstrates that God listens. He hears and responds to the prayers of those who retreat to Him. “In you, Lord, I have taken refuge…Turn your ear to me and save me” (71:1-2 NIV).
God will do just that. He will allow you to experience a Joshua kind of day. He will turn His ear to you and save you, if you retreat to Him.
Why? Because that’s who He is: the God who listens to human beings.
Prayer: Lord, thank You for hearing me and for helping me experience one-of-a-kind days.
