Hello, I'm new to this site and I find it all very fascinating, interesting, and glad to see that so many people that love Christ and offer their ideas opinions and input.
Let me first of all say, I am a sinner! I have been through many spiritual trials in my life and looking back I don't understand them all; but I am thankful that God has not only allowed me to experience them, but was with me, as it has made me stronger in Christ/God and His power.
When you pray for wisdom, be careful what you ask, and what God will reveal to you! He has revealed many things to me that I'm not sure what to do with or how to speak them?
It is a personal relationship Jesus that I have. God's word is alive, when I read the Bible it speaks to me so clearly and yet only convicts me.
I think that some of the people that read this so far may think I'm crazy, but that's ok.
Jesus Is risen, He is alive, He loves me, forgives me and has paid the price for my sins. That's what matters most;as I don't deserve what He has done for me, as I am as filthy rags.

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

Welcome to TJ, CDNRider. I have a question: If you have a flourishing relationship with Jesus, you are redeemed. If you are redeemed, how can you be as filthy rags? Its true that you and the rest of the redeemed don't deserve what He has done for us. But,the idea of you (and by association, the rest of the redeemed) being filthy rags is unscriptural.

Your filthy rags reference is from Is 64:6. Isaiah 64 is the prophet's prayer for deliverance of backslidden Israel. True followers of Jesus are "in the light" (see Jn 3:21) and thus not backslidden; not filthy rags.

Hi Spirit Led Ed,

True, I am redeemed. I did not note or use that scripture as reference, but used that term "filthy rags", as the way I feel when I sin. There were many other terms that came to mind, but used that one as the most polite term. Do I feel like that (and worse) when I knowingly sin...Yes! Do I feel guilty when I sin...Yes! Maybe others don't feel the same way? Thankfully, I have a risen Saviour that loves and forgives me. Do I feel a love and joy in the Lord...Yes!

I hope that answers your question.

Cdnrider: Thanks for the clarification. Please edit your post to add the phrase "when I sin" to the filthy rags statement.

Thanks,

SLE

Is this a communist site or something?

Welcome man, I agree with SLE though, a lot of Christians buy into the whole depraved state of man thing, and while that's clearly something that's true about those who don't have the Spirit in them yet, you're redeemed and don't have to worry about that. The parts of you that are still drawn to sin is just the flesh that hasn't been taken care of yet, like how Romans talks about putting to death the misdeeds of the body through the power of the Spirit. It's a continual process of dying to self and ascribing more and more of your will to the Spirit in a conscious act of yielding. First and foremost though you've gotta know who you are though. I recommend checking out Bill Johnson if you haven't, there's a book about who you have been made by God called "The Supernatural Ways of Royalty." I'll probably get some people jumping down my throat for referencing that, but you've got the Spirit now to lead you, let him be your guide.

peace brotha

One of the problems Christians new and old have arises from bringing their worldly microwave society attitude into their spiritual lives. Growth as a Christian is a process. That's why Paul told the Philippians (and us) to "work out your salvation in fear and trembling. For it is God who works in you to will and to act according to His good purpose."
(Php 2:12-13 NIV)

Rom 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

God gives us a new spirit when we are born again.
God gives us a new body (thank goodness mine is a little worn) at the resurrection.
What He is saving is your soul which is your mind, will intellect, emotions, etc and it is no coincidence that Jesus was crucified at Golgotha (the place of the skull).
These are changed as we feed on the Word of God as breathed on by the Spirit of God. This comes as He imparts revelation in your new spirit (inner) man.
We receive His truth and are renewed in our mind (soul) one step at a time.
What our mind thinks our body does.
New life in spirit+ renewed mind= sanctified body.:shade:
It is not only a death to self but a death to all our old ways of thinking. The old man stands at the border of the promised land cowering before the giants. The renewed mind knows that God is more than able and can already taste the grapes.

So feed yourself continually on the Word of God and submit your heart to live in the glory of God and you will grow bearing much fruit.
