Old St. Augustine's prayer book

More misunderstandings.

Not the paper, Chad, not the ink, not the book, but the Name. Would you write the Name of Jesus on a piece of paper, then throw it down in the dirt and grind it underfoot?

Philippians 2:9-11:

9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:
10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;
11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

As I am not able to grind my Lord and God and Saviour's name into the dirt, no matter what it's printed on, I am also not prepared to make accusations against my brothers and sisters who also believe in Jesus and honour His name, and I am not prepared to condemn anyone trying to follow Jesus as best they can.

I am not willing to call "garbage" any book that contains prayers that are sincerely written and directed to Jesus Christ. Why, that poor little old prayer book contains the very Lord's Prayer itself! Some of the other prayers in it were prayed even before the Protestant Reformation, even way back in the early centuries and the middle ages. Martyrs died with the words of those prayers on their lips.

To treat a book such as a Bible or prayer book with respect is by no means to worship it, but to throw a tattered Bible in the trash is to show great disrespect for the Holy Scriptures. No one worships the Bible, but everyone worships Him who is revealed to us in its pages. To burn a tattered prayer book merely protects what is left of it from misuse. I think you read far too much of your own thoughts into what I said, and you succeed in driving quite a wedge by that method that makes it even more difficult. In fact, far too difficult for the likes of me. If this is a non-denominational board, it's a very different sort of "non-denominational" than I'm familiar with. I'm sorry, but I just can't take it all in right now.

Let us return to prayer for one another. You have the right to control the board however you like, I will give you no more trouble.

You still have not provided Scripture that commands us to burn the book. Still waiting for this proof of yours.

Who condemned who here? You are the one condemning anyone that does not believe in what you believe. I merely asked you for Scripture and provided you a few good examples of how the book physically is not the sacred portion that we should be concerned of burning. You did not bother responding to any of these examples.

I call the devil's lies inside this "prayer book" garbage. Not the Scriptural stuff mixed in, but the other catholic based "hail mary" for example. That stuff is not Scriptural, nor truth from GOD, nor the Lord's Prayer.

Just because your views are not the same as others, just because you cannot provide valid Scripture to back up your statements does not mean this "board" being non-denominational is different from others or not Holy Spirit operated. The fact that you even bring this up along with your "I don't fit here" comment makes it clear that you think of this board as no good, not good enough to suit your views and your pride.

I'm confident you won't back up your statements with Scripture. For sister Mouse, I hope the Holy Spirit shows you the truth Himself. After all, it is His authorship that validates the Word and makes it sacred.
