Nudity?

I am wondering...if God made Adam and Even naked in which he found it to be good and there was no sin in that would it be ok to run around town naked? Sin is what caused Adam and Eve to be ashamed of their bodies so they covered up. Now wouldn't it be right to NOT be ashamed of our bodies and to get naked since that is how God intended us to be before sin came? Now I understand that the bible does say it is sin to be naked like in public but why, isnt he going against what he intended us to be like? How about people that live in remote areas where they are naked...I don't think they find anything wrong with that.

I wasn't aware that nudity was sin, but am positive lust is. In societies where everyone is naked the men aren't constantly ogling the women and vice versa. It's natural to them.

Nudity is not a sin in itself but God DID want us to be clothed for a reason. Now what makes you think these men in these societies do not lust.

I seem to recall God asking Adam and Eve why they were clothed. He was upset that they felt the need to clothe themselves, he certainly didn't force them to remain clothed.

I have friends who have been to parts of the world where nudity is common. They have ALL told me that the men there are more respectful of the women's bodies. I have no reason to call them liars.

Could you find me a scripture saying that God wanted them clothed? I'm curious what you are basing this on.

God had to kill an animal in order to clothe them. He did it himself. In Timothy 2:9 he also says to dress modestly.

Dear Jani

I would have to agree with your comment on lust.

The less a girl wears, the more attention they receive from men.

On Australian beaches, some women are topless.

Not the place to be for Christian males.

I think the sexual drive is one of the primary drives in a male.

I cannot speak for every male, but this was true for me.

Dear natters

Genesis 3

9Then the LORD God called to the man, and said to him, "Where are you?" 10He said, "I heard the sound of You in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; so I hid myself."

Interesting the knowledge of good and evil.

This was the tree that Adam and Eve ate from.

This was the reason they were evicted from Eden.

We can see that adam was afraid that God would see him naked. I think it is safe to say that God would want us to be dressed. Well as Christians followers of Christ. Of course there are people around the world that live in remote areas where such law does not cross their mind since they don't know their Gospel and that is how their culture is. But we that have knowledge of the word and of the laws in this country and we should choose to dress over being nude. That is why I question sometimes those who say they model naked for a living yet say they are Christian. Their actions are not according to Gods will as it causes them to stumble and others as well.

We need to dress because we are not pure minded like adam and eve were. after the fall they'r "eyes were opened" and they were shamed.

Well Adam and Eve were covered in God's glory before the fall. So they weren't naked the way one of us would look like naked. They were shining with His brilliance all around. We're crowned with that same glory ever since Jesus' finished work but its visible int he spirit realm only. However, many Christians have seen that glory manifest in this realm in other believers. If you want to walk around naked, go for it. Just get ready for lots of attention and to bear the elements.

just watched a short video by John Piper related to this :P

I can't post links but you can youTube - John Piper - Why Clothing?

God didn't make our nakedness Sin, we did. Adam and Eve ate from the Tree of knowledge which enabled them to know what???? Good and Evil.

So by now knowing Good and Evil we are no longer Innocent.

You can't have people running around naked without there being a problem with it due to Sin.

All cultures have some covering not one tribe totally runs around fully naked. Even the New Guinea Tribesmen put a cone or horn like thing on their *****. So there is some modesty or covering of your modest parts in all cultures throughout the world. You will note while in some African and South American tribes women expose their breasts they still are covered down below.

So your idea that wild tribes out the back of nowhere are not bothered by nakedness is not valid. In some tribes the children that have not started puberty may run around naked but not on the onset of maturing of their bodies. Then they are required to cover up.

Sin entering the world ripped away our innocence.

GE 3:6 When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. She also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it. 7 Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they realized they were naked; so they sewed fig leaves together and made coverings for themselves.

GE 3:8 Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the LORD God as he was walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and they hid from the LORD God among the trees of the garden. 9 But the LORD God called to the man, "Where are you?"

GE 3:10 He answered, "I heard you in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; so I hid."

GE 3:11 And he said, "Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten from the tree that I commanded you not to eat from?"

Interesting the first thing that happened after they ate the fruit is they realised they were NAKED. God knew that they had eaten from the Tree of Knowledge. God was giving them a chance to own up to it by asking questions like "who told you that you were naked?". Yet in the very next sentence God also is pointing out that the Knowledge of Nakedness could only have come to Adam and Eve through the eating of the Tree of Knowledge.

You can't escape that knowledge not even in the jungle.
