"Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the LORD your God [is] with you wherever you go." Joshua 1:9 NKJV
When you feel anxious or lacking in confidence, think about how Joshua might have felt when God put him in charge of leading the Israelites into the Promised Land. He had to follow Moses as leader of a whole nation. Talk about feeling inadequate! If anyone had opportunity to feel unworthy, it was Joshua.
God knows exactly what you’re going through. He knows your feelings of inadequacy. But He has called you to be a light in a dark world. Hear Him tell you to be strong because He is your strength and to be courageous because He is your source of courage. God is on your side, and He is infinitely bigger than any struggle you will ever face.
God promised to be with Joshua wherever he went—and He promises you the very same thing. The enemy will try to make you feel isolated and unworthy, but God always encourages you and strengthens you with His presence. That’s because He wants you to succeed in doing the things He has called you to do.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for being my source of strength and encouragement. Help me to keep my eyes from focusing too much on the size of my problems here on earth. Keep my mind and heart focused on You every day.
