Mar_9:40 For he that is not against us is on our part.
Luk_9:50 And Jesus said unto him, Forbid him not: for he that is not against us is for us.

Many religions Preach Jesus Christ and Hid Cross ! It Does not mean they are all Christians [Born of GOD ] but they are Not against Us !

I wondered if some of there religions i find so much fault in were gone ? Who would be standing up for killing babies and much more!

Plus many of them help the poor !

satam means things for Evil , But God uses them many times for GODD ! Thank You LORD JESUS !

The line has to be drawn somewhere. I think John was creating divison by not wanting those not part of Christs most intimate fellowship, to use His name to perform miracles. His motive was selfish ambition, he was one of the two brothers who wanted to sit at Jesus's right and left. John probably thought he was one of the best of the closest, and was perhaps afraid of outside competition.

Only believers can work miracles of power in His name... are you sure it refers to other religions?
Religions have persecuted, killed genuine Christians for centuaries..how can they be for us?

I see this is about believers in Christ (born again Christians) who are not part of Jesus's most intimate fellowship.. doing mighty works in His name. THe Lord does not forbid the least in the kingdom doing the greatest works. Do we feel jealous when a newly saved believer, who perhaps doesn't even go to church, or our church.. do great works in His name? Then we are suffering the same thing John suffered. Perhaps we think we are important member like heart or lung or mouth or eyes.. but the appendix or little toe we look down upon and think they cannot do much good, or even don't seem to have a place in the body.

But as a general principle, any religion which preaches Christ is used by God.

Mar 9:38 And John answered him, saying, Master, we saw one casting out devils in thy name, and he followeth not us: and we forbad him, because he followeth not us.
Mar 9:39 But Jesus said, Forbid him not: for there is no man which shall do a miracle in my name, that can lightly speak evil of me.
Mar 9:40 For he that is not against us is on our part.

Lots of religions seem to have lots of false junk in them ! Still They preach JESUS CHRIST and HIS CROSS !
Sure many are going to come out of all kinds of religions !

The Disciples WERE NOT born -Again til after He died on the Cross and Rose from the Dead ! They were all Dead in there sins !

1Co_15:17 And if Christ be not raised, your faith is vain; ye are yet in your sins.

Joh_7:39 (But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)

Lots of scriptures can confuse us , if they are not revealed to us by the Holy Ghost!

Hello Spirit1st.

The apostles may have needed correction from time to time.

Peter certainly did, even Paul tried to carry the Gospel into
Asia at the time all to no avail. It would seem that even the
most faithful Christians become side tracked from time to
time.

Only believers in Christ can perform genuine miracles, only those who have faith in Christ. The sons of Sceva who did not believe in Christ tried to use the name of Jesus as a formula, and it didn't work. Even though the disciples were not born again, Jesus gave them authority over the enemy. The ones not part of their group working miracles, either they were disciples who stopped fellowshipping with the group, but kept their faith in Christ, or they were disciples of John the Baptist, or one of the 70 who Jesus gave the power to work miracles, but did not follow the apostles.

Amen x 10! Before Pentecost they were as lost as anyone else in that day.

Well they were not lost, they were justified by faith, just as any Old Testament person was. They were saved by grace alone through faith in Christ. So too was the thief on the cross who died before Jesus was resurrected. He was also saved by faith alone in Christ. They were baptised, and were made clean by the word Christ spoke to them. Even the Father revealed to Peter that He was the Messiah, the Son of God.

not being rude or tardy or anyway anything but honest with a true heart in this next question:

I wonder
(do you?)
I wonder what the God we talk about here thinks about all this and if He smiles at it or is upset by it
meanwhile back at the ranch
Heaven that is
what is all this about all the time but a folly which can either please or displease the One Whom we talk about with so much authority usually making at least one other to be wrong
could it be that in this case all are wrong or is that too hard for us to ever fathom in case we sometimes confess that it is beyond our limited scope as yet
sure it's good to discuss it but it sure would be nice if there was a little humility and less I am right and you are wrong

for the most part most are totally off track and are so busy arguing with others they find on the same road that they can't or don't hear the small still voice and whisper
rewind and start again, find the Lord, agree He is absolute
add some fear and trembling stir with awe and be still and let Him do or say something that is worth talking about

written kindly to others who might be a little at dispute or crossroads and to help us all to see someOne Who knows much more and can even let us know what is what about Himself and His Church, the Bride fit for His Son

love to you all in Jesus name
