Welcome to Talk Jesus! I myself used to be into technology. I wanted to be a network technician and spent several years practicing website development. Although that dream has faded, it's great to see more and more people getting into such an interesting field.

@Rev T.S.Perkins

Ah, well...sadly, I don't have much of a career at the moment. Issues with social anxiety unfortunately. Although, I have attempted multiple times over the years to start an album of clean instrumental music as well; but recent struggles with whether trance music is "biblical" have been a challenge to overcome. (Although I know I am probably over-thinking things, since musical instruments are neutral in themselves.)

In any case, God is always in control. Stay focused, especially on His glory, and everything will always work out.

Well stay strong! Music is very important in the realm of God. Like I said before I a rock fan and I love christian hard rock and metal bands. For a long time, and still today, Christian metal and hard rock has had this stigma of not being right/correct. My dad used to call it devil music, even though it was christian. I don't believe it should be used in organized worship, that's not it's place but I do believe all types of music. If it is created with a genuine heart and played for his glory, I don't think you can really go wrong. Yet if you feel convicted in anyway about what you are playing you may need to pray about it. Music is so intimate that really I believe its something between you and God, so really you cant have good christian music without prayer. :D

That reminds me of Matthew 15:11, where Jesus says, "It is not what enters into the mouth that defiles the man, but what proceeds out of the mouth, this defiles the man." So in other words, it's not about getting caught up in little rules, but in realizing what our true heart motives are, and having the glory of God as the main goal.

The other important thing is to hold the word of God over everything, even if a lot of others seem to be doing/not doing something (which I've often struggled with). For me, the scripture of conviction has been: "...whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honorable, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things." (Philippians 4:8) If a song doesn't cause you to dwell on these things, then it could, biblically, be questioned. So much of what we are and who we are comes from our culture, and the values we were brought up in. But the great thing about our calling is that we are to be separate from the world, a people of God.

Is trance/dance music glorifying to God? Or do the songs I listen to glorify man instead of God? I've often struggled with this. But either way, the Holy Spirit will lead His people to where they need to go.

"And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him, (Colossians 3:17)

(Forgive me for all the reading.)
