No Pray, No Play
“In this manner, therefore, pray: Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name, Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven....” - Matthew 6:9-10.
The U. S. Supreme Court has tightened restrictions on prayer at school sponsored events. As a result of the tightened restrictions Christians are trying to find a way to legally continue praying at athletic and other such events. The Lord’s Prayer, also known as the Model Prayer is again serving as an example during this time. A group called “No Pray, No Play” is encouraging the reciting of the Lord’s Prayer prior to all athletic events. It is tragic that the freedom to pray has been restricted. It is not only tragic it is upsetting and almost unbelievable that a nation which says it trusts in God no longer sanctions prayer. How did we arrive at this point? It may be that we have come to this point because of a lack of prayer. How many Christian students who recite the Lord’s Prayer at football games have never prayed at home? How many have never heard their parents pray at home? How many have never heard their grandparents pray? How many have never heard their friends pray? How many never prayed and never cared when they had the freedom to pray?
Wherever we are for as long as we can, in whatever way we can let us pray! Let us begin now!!
