Because thou hast made the LORD, [which is] my refuge, [even] the most High, thy habitation; There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling. Psalm 91:9-10 KJV
As you read today’s scripture passage, you might find yourself thinking, How can this be? A lot of godly men have faced harm and disaster! Is there some kind of typo in these verses?
It’s an absolute fact that many solid Christian men suffered harm at the hands of other people, and many others have suffered physical disaster. So what is God saying here?
Jesus once warned His followers, “In this world you will have trouble” (John 16:33). But He also promised, “I have overcome the world.” In light of that, you can take today’s scripture reading to mean that while you’ll encounter many difficulties in this life, you’ll ultimately never be defeated when you make the Lord your refuge from this fallen world.
The devil world love nothing more than to leave you shaken and doubting when troubles come. But when you cling tightly to God during those times, He’ll never allow the enemy to snatch you out of His hands. Never!
Prayer: Father, I have in a fallen world, and a fallen world is a dangerous world. Thank You for being my refuge from the danger and for keeping me secure in You, especially when I face the difficulties You have said are part of life in this world.
