New but old

Hello everybody. Since asking Jesus into my life many years ago, the road has been both smooth and rough but I never regretted the decision. In fact I sometimes believe that it was no decision at all since it is God who calls us. My main problem has been that my confidence in the power of Jesus to save us from our sins is almost universally interpreted as conceit. It is the old problem that hearers assume that acceptance into heaven is by merit and not by faith but the scriptures say that "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God" Eph 2:8

Today, in this age of new bibles, the word of God has never been as little understood. It did not take me long to find out how easy it was to get bible meanings wrongly interpreted. I counteracted this by reading more than one version which kind of gave me a 3D image of the situation. Since then I have discovered many good bible teachers and it is in trying to stick to their teaching that I have met with the greatest opposition, but enough of that.
