Hi Everyone - I am new on here. I am a Catholic woman, who is really struggling. I do not go to church because I do not feel welcomed there. I think it is because I go there all alone, and don't know anyone. I sit by myself in an empty pew, and noone ever seems to want to join me. I tried to join the choir, as a I am singer, but was told my services were not needed. I am married to a man to does believe, but does not choose to attend any services. I am struggling right now as I made a horrible decision to lie to my husband over something stupid that became big because I continued to lie to cover my tracks. Now that I am busted, things are tense at home, although my husband does say that in time he will forgive me. I feel like a horrible person because of what I have done to shatter the trust in my marriage. I simply need some support.

Welcome, what happened to you could have happened to anyone :) It is very tempting to lie and the feeling when it all comes out as an adult is far worse than the lies told as a child. I hope you will find a lot of people willing to support you here, and I volunteer to be the first! I find this a useful thing to remember:

You are sinful, but so is everyone else, so am I.
You're not perfect, you're being perfected.
The trial in your life and the times you feel at your lowest is when the most change is likely to happen. (After all who would change if everything was good, it would be silly!)

Please keep coming here and find the support you need!

First welcome to TJ,
I used to be Catholic at an early age, but moved away from it. Knowing Jesus Christ as your savior, does not tie you to one church, especially if that church does not welcome you. I would suggest you look around TJ, and talk with the people here. They will pray for and with you; that the Holy Spirit will provide you guidance which we know is possible, in not only finding a loving church, but also a peaceful resolution to the problem with your husband. Just remember don't go beating yourself over something you cannot change. Pray and try not to force the issue with your husband. From the little you've said, it seems he is willing to forgive (hopeful sign), but needs time. Maybe reminding him of the love that was and I hope is present in your marriage will help. The greatest help, will be praying and turning it over to the Lord. Don't go beating yourself up over it.
Praying for you.

Welcome dear lady. Believe me when I assure you that God loves you....whatever.

Welcome to t.j.

God is bigger than all of our problems.......

We/I, go to the building/Church to meet the Master, the Lord God Almighty. We/I may sit alone, but such is not importent because we are there to meet God. As we call upon His Name ....He hears...and will answer.....

We all seek for friendship, and going to a strange church and sitting alone in the pew does make you feel alone if you view things through the eyes of man, us. We apply these things to all things.....not sure why we do so....but we do.

I will not tell you a thing about which church you go to...

I will only say that Jesus, is your friend, he will become your best friend if you let him. Then all other things really do no matter, and with a bit of time all things will improve and life will change.

I suggest you go and pick up your bible, and read the new testament and ask God to open your mind, just say, hey....I want to understand, and listen to God. Do not listen to men, Do not listen to me, listen to God.

Apply his forgiveness to your life, open your heart to what he has to say.
Seek it and look for it.....and it will come. Then you will see a drastic change in how you view things and how you handle them. God will lead you to a new way, he will show you a good church if it is so for you, and will show you understanding not to push a religion on anyone, but to seek the truth of God , and not apply any religion to it. He will show you how to be kind, be friends be courteous, but not lash out at friends who are mislead, but to kindly suggest.....this is the right way......in a kind manner.

So go read the word of God......you and God.....he will answer you.

Leenie6675, I'm really glad you've joined us. I've been involved in a twelve-step recovery program for a long time and I can tell you from experience that the key to recovery for anyone with any kind of problem is them reaching out for help. You've done that here at TJ; we can help you and we will. But, you need the kind of help that involves face to face contact with other struggling folks as well.

Many churches have embraced the Celebrate Recovery program and if you can find a church (Catholic or not) that hosts a Celebrate Recovery group, I'd suggest you check it out. Membership in the host Church should not be required to participate in a CR group. You'll find a number of Celebrate Recovery videos on YouTube that will give you a sense of what the program is all about.

We are all sinners and need of forgiveness and Jesus did that on the cross.
You seeing your sin and regretting it (repenting) is a good sign that you are a Christian and he, who is in you, is helping you now with that.

Of course you want forgiveness and approval from your husband but, Christ has already done that and that is eternal.

What Is highlighted is red is a good indication that God may want you to go to another church because these don't appear to be the signs of a loving church.

In the meantime, until you find that church, consider TJ as your cyber-church for as long as you want it....welcome!
