Need help understanding something in the bible

Lord know your name and your acknowledgement of him.
It is eerie how His words come to me and my mouth that refute the idea that I had just a second ago. I hide the word in my heart that I might not CONCIOUSLY sin against God.
Glad to meet you.

Hey, I tried to save your name ....to follow you... but it would not work. Maybe it is because you are such a new member.

I was being kinda rhetorical but hen talking about any Christian, including me, who thinks they have arrived in heaven ahead of time, LOL The Lord is ssssssssssssssssssssssoooooooooooo much more than we can ever be, but I am afraid some become haughty and SELF righteous. Ironically this one sin, after confessing it, (being haughty) can make you have a closer walk with Jesus. Ben you are precious (can I say that to a man, better not let my wife see this........teasing, of course?)

I am going to eat with the Indians......my wife, who is full blood ..hates when I say this because she said it sounds like we are coming to some pueblo and eat in a cave (she is a Hopi Indian).........I love to make her go to default, I call it. She looks so sweet.

LOL I just shot that question out to get a rise from someone
No offense intended or taken but I pretty much think TJ is a place for sharing and talking about Jesus and not intended for any sort of "getting a rise out of someone".

Well, I did not expect that I would experience a unconscious sin (2nd or 1st Corinthians chapter 8 about offending people) so soon. I said something to my wife who is a full blood Indian that I thought was harmless. I had been saying it for awhile thinking it was funny. I would say "Lets go eat with the Indians" (at the Choctaw senior center). She said there are some Indians "That that would really sound patronizing. I still do not fully understand why it is STILL is offensive to some. I mean really, give me a break...thin skin I guess. But then It's really not all about me. Not to take anything away from the lesion that was reinforced to me I sort of knew already. People are too sensitive...way to sensitive. Being so easy to offend is counter productive to letting go and growing as a person and as a society. You know, forgiveness, tolerance and all that. I guess it is as short as it is long. But then like I said; it is not all about me. Still it can be so ridicule the way be some get so full of their own agenda.
I put it down to the big deceiver trying to sabotage God's will. What do you think?
What I said in detail that I am referring to about eating with the Indians was a reply to My good friend Benito. Now, I don't see the reply to Ben so that you could refer to if you wanted. I hope it was not deleted by the moderator. If so maybe it could be a lesion to others as well.
I am a little Choctaw myself.

Hey, it's cool. In just my way of thinking TJ is a way to not only witness but a way to vet ourselves as loving Christians who are sometime jocular. The moderators have a tough job so it's up to them and I respect that.

Sorry I guess I put that very simple as to a child...Not that you are....

Bendito ..I am pretty new, and actually appreciated how simply, as to a child, you replied. So while it was a reply to DaveM , I actually got a lot outta it ;) ty

My reply was addressed to @Bendito .:)

Of course you can say that...I don't hear something like that very often though. I do appreciate it....From a man to a man it does not sound queer...LOL :D

I'm glad Ellie..I'm a word weaver and I can get some big words mixed into my writing..Looks good but it can confuse too... :)

first I am a true believer and study the bible and always look to greater under stand it, I have question for you guys on contradictions in the bible, and really its a small small technicality that really could be written off as a opinion of one man using the world to define good, and God's true word of what Good is but here is the question in the proverbs King David refers to 12-2 A good man obtains favor from the lord, how ever Jesus says in Mark 10-18 No one is good except God alone. Would love to here what you guys say about that, Praise Jesus

Jesus is making a separate point. In fact that line ''there is none good except God'' can easily turn into the longest thread discussion in history!!!

I will try summarize it for you. Look at Matt 5:28 and then Matt 5:32.

Note how in Matt 5:28 Jesus is making a very clear point that if we have thought of adultery we have committed it (no one who does good). Then in vs 32 that only for actual adultery may we divorce.

Can you imagine us divorcing for thoughts?

We ''have'' to understand that Jesus is making a point separate from degrees of sin / us hating sin / trying our best not to sin. Namely that we have all sinned and we all deserve separation from God as a result.

The easiest way to understand this for me is to look at the OT. In the OT we had Hades and Abraham's bosom. Those who sinned but yet hated it (Rom 7:15) went to AB. Those who sinned and loved it (John 3:19) went to Hades. Salvation that we had nothing to do was when Jesus took all those in AB to heaven.

A good person finds Jesus / obtains favor / is after God's heart. James 4:8, Psalm 51:17, James 1:27, Rom 12:9, John 9:31.

Hey Bendito
I do not find it hard to believe at all that the young man wanted it his own way. What I find hard to believe with what you said was that young man recognized the deity of Jesus, that's what I I find hard to believe, for if he did recognize the deity, I think he would of surely followed him and done as instructed his faith was to weak perhaps , but nobody can know for sure, we can only speculate. Of course this is only my thoughts I would love to here yours on the subject.

For me I cant comprehend any body coming across God and not submitting 100% to what he says if you know he is GOd. Their for I do not think the guy was 100% certain that Jesus was God.
Agreed. When you believe in gravity you are not afraid to jump and fear floating into space. Unless of course you jump off a building.

It is the same argument I raise with faith teachers who quote Peter sinking as evidence of weak faith. Peter did not grasp that the man standing in front of him was God of the universe. Only later in Matt 16:16-17 did he.

Go back up to post #45. You quoted and replied to me on something that was addressed to another person.

Oh, I see what you mean. I was thinking that any reply can be addresses by any member since we are family here. Sorry.

No harm done. It just didn't make sense you answering a reply addressing a quote of someone else. And, yes, we are family!
