He is 21 months old and is an absolute blessing. He was born with enterovirus, which destroyed his heart. But God is Good. His outlook was not bright according to the doctors and was going to be placed on the transplant list at four months of age. However, a surgean there in St Louis was determined that he could repair his heart for a time. He has grown and developed into a very sweet little guy who loves baseball caps, balls, balloons and cheetos. They have stated that his heart has worked much better than they ever expected. There have been a few stays in PICU since then, but he always came home thriving.
He developed pneumonia and was treated with antibiotics, but there was more infection apparently hiding, he has been in the hospital now for over a week, they had to put chest tubes in to drain his lungs. He is such a good baby. He does not fight the things he has to endure, and he is always ready to give a smile and flash his personality.
They are planning to life flight him after he has recovered from what turned out to be rotovirus, and keep in in St Louis until he has the transplant.
Mom has never dealt well with this situation, please pray that God would draw her closer to Him, and trust His judgment. She also has a ten year old son that has a tough time with knowing brothers outcome could be death, and also having to understand the time that mom cannot spend with him.
They have given him less than a year....he is already a miracle.
I know regardless the outcome, He will be in the arms of Jesus. My concern is mom, brother and the family that does not realize the loss they will soon endure. Please pray for my family and those of the child with this gift to Keegan.
