Hello everyone. I have an atheist friend. Or used to. He stopped talking to me after I tried to spread the gospel message to him. I really am concerned about him, and I really want him to be saved. Please, pray for him that he will come to Christ. And pray that all barriers of the enemy will be broken down in his life, and that Satan will have no more hold on him. He has gotten involved with foreign gods as well, especially the Greek gods, and I am afraid, too, that he will become pagan.

I am so torn as well. I feel a love for him. But not the lustful type, or a "passionate" love. It feels like a Christ-type love, the way that Christ loves us sinners.

I don't know what to do, Talk Jesus.... I'm afraid to feel anything for him, even this. I was thinking that as long as it's a Christ-type love that it would be okay to feel this way. But I'm very cautious and trying to be wary that it doesn't evolve into something else. Admittedly, I have had trouble in the past with feeling things for him that were wrong, and wanting to be with him.... I don't know what to pray for. Is it even okay to pray the other prayer I'm thinking? To pray that he will talk to me again? It just feels so selfish....

Please, pray for him, and for me. And advice would be appreciated as well.

I will pray for this lost soul. The gospel of Love often divides, but your friend is not being truthful with you or himself. If he really believed that there was no God, then you talking about Him would be no more offensive to him that talking about Santa Claus. It is evident that your sharing struck a nerve- one does not react that passionately about something they do not believe in. Like most "atheists " he lives in denial: His reaction is that of one who hates God, not of one who does not believe in Him. It is easier to reach someone (in time) who lives in this denial then it is to reach a blind man who truly does not believe- Keep praying.

One more thing I would like to add- a friend once told me this and it stuck with me : it is sometimes necessary to build a bridge of friendship that will sustain the weight of truth".

Greetings @Glow

Praying for your dear friend
That the gospel message you have shared with him will burn powerfully in his heart and not let him rest
That he will be convicted of his need for the Saviour and turn to Jesus

May the Lord bless you sister and may you know His peace and love surrounding you

And may the Lord richly bless you for your faithfulness in sharing the good news of the gospel with your friend

He is able to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by Him
Hebrews 7:25

Oh, thank you all so much! I very greatly appreciate all the prayers. It's so wonderful to be on a site where the people genuinely care! I honestly don't know what to do, but I am going to trust that God knows what He is doing.

Boanerges, that is so true. He really must have gotten upset when I told him that, "According to the Bible, there are no such things as atheists," and backed it up with scriptures. I'm going to keep praying myself.

Fragrant Grace, you always seem to say the things that I need to hear. Thank you for the scripture, and for the prayers.

Once again, thank you everyone!
