Blessed are the poor in spirit, not the poor in self-esteem;
Blessed are those who mourn, not those who whine;
Blessed are the meek, not the weak;
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, not those who hunger and thirst for "social justice"
Blessed are the merciful, not those who are tolerant of evil;
Blessed are those who are pure in heart, not those who are empty in heart;
Blessed are the peacemakers, not the appeasers;
Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness sake, not those who are victimized for trauma's sake.

Control the word, control the mind. Beware, that the language is being corrupted everyday. When reading the opening of the Sermon on the Mount on face value, it is a common mistake of confusing the former with the latter. I've asked some of my peers about what these blessed Christian characteristics mean, and their answers often happened to be the latter, which is not a suprise at all given to today's cultural context we're living in. However, the former is what Jesus was really preaching, the latter is what the overarching narrative of the world is preaching. It is critically important to know the nuance.
