Mathews 24 and 1 Thessalonians 4: are they the same event ?????????

Do you think these are the same event, and if so or not so with scripture please? thanks

1 Thessalonians 4:15, 16
15. For this we declare to you by a word from the Lord, that we who are alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will not precede those who have fallen asleep
16. For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a cry of command, with the voice of an archangel, and with the sound of the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first.
17. After that, we who are alive and remain will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will always be with the Lord.…


Mathew 24: 30, 31
30. Then will appear in heaven the sign of the Son of Man, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.
31. And He will send out His angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather His elect from the four winds, from one end of the heavens to the other.…

I will say this again if not over a 100 times, Matt. 24, is the "Olivet Dis-discourse". Must i say it a thousand times! So no the the olivet discourse and 1 Thess. 4 be are not same thing. There supposed to be over 2.4 billion christians in the world and over 33,000 christian denominations in the world. There are over 450 translations into the english language of the bible. Over 55% of the are readers of KJV in english. And through out "Christiandom". The "Olivet Dis-Course" is know across 7 continents of the world, even in the jungles of Africa and even by some indigenous ""Rain Forest" of certral American. Of couse the "Olivet- discourse" has no meaning whatsoever to non-christians or to those who think they are true christains, but it has great meaning to true christians and well education "Apologetic Atheist" in their fight to prove "there is no God. And remember this we do not. "Give that which is holy to dogs, neither throw your pearls before pigs". Lest they trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you to pieces. THe very words of our LORD and Master.
Why call me lord lord and do not what i say! Give not that which is Holy to dogs! (Matt. 7:6).

The "olivet discourse" simply means something that was said on the Mt. of Olives.
Matt 24, was the 5th (and last time in Matthew) that Jesus spoke on the Mt of Olives.
Conservative Christians believe Matt 24 is talking about future events.
"Progressive Christians" believe this was mostly 70ad.
Some people (such as myself) believe it is both.

As far as .. is 1Thes 4 and Matt 24 the same event.. (You might as well include Mark 13 as well )
They both talk about the 2nd coming of the Lord. So unless Jesus is coming back, and leaving again, and coming back again (the 3rd coming?) They have to be the same event.

Dear Brother,
Take a little more care in how you answer a Brother in Christ Jesus, who is seeking to grow in the Word. Now he might believe the Scriptures he quoted, deal with a singular time frame/event, and wants to see if there is validity in holding that position. As far as the Olivet Discourse being mentioned by you over a 100 times, I'd dare say that may be true, but not here at Talk Jesus. Some people do hold that certain writings can have multiple meanings and significance. However, this post of mine to you is more for the benefit of suggesting that you take your time or think twice on how you reply to another here at Talk Jesus.

Where did i say anything about a secret coming? I believe the bible never spoke of a secret coming. And i can only speak about what I believe the bible speaks about. And i believe everyone entitled to their own personal religious believeth. No matter what religion they belong to. "Freedom of Choice"

PS have anyone on "TalkJesus" every took "Language", Literature, or "Speech" classes before, through out their early school years, Grammar, schools, or been in debate classes, or plays in early school years, Which should have been mandatory, in all the. English speaking world, especially in the "UK"?
I know here in michigan. It was mandatory as small kids coming up in"Grammer School" we had to takelanguage classes, along with 8 years of english. a literature class, and a speech, but I went on in college and took up "Speech" classses. Interpretive reading, Impromptus, rhetoric, As kids , the movies, quoted these people, to instill the culture in our little minds. [how we hated it].

remember as little kids, "Emily Dickinson, Lewis Carroll, Ralph Waldo Ellison, Robert Louis Steveson, Edgar Allen Poe, William Shakespeare, Mark Twain and sure Charles Dickens". And of course "william Tyndale" that has given us the True flavor of the created words for "KJV" and the English language. The true word of God has lost so much in flavor it has been a enemy to many hearers. And the day has approached.
"People will stagger from sea to sea and from the north even to the east; They will roam about to seek the word of the LORD, But they will not find it." (Amos 8:12).
Now Days it has come to the point many do not even know what the word of God is, and you try to explain, they treat you like you are the enemy. And false teachers are the "Innocent"! But Jesus is going to change that, when He Rules with a "Iron Secpter"! And many ain't going to like it! And they will try to kill him again! But His Father is not going to let it happen. I am just old school, and like the "Ancient Paths". The path many have never known or walked and a thing of the past., that will never be regained. By choice. "fredom of the will" so many have said.

IMHO yes! These are exactly the same event...and it is not speaking only to the Jewish people who come to believe. It is all about the Parousia or Second Coming and what happens at that time

I believe this is the same event. It seems that Paul is quoting Jesus from the Olivet discourse. Vs 15 says he declares this from the word of the Lord. In 1 thess chapter 5 he describes Him as a thief in the night when He returns. In Mt 24:43 Jesus describes the event as a thief.

I agree...both refer to the Parousia (the coming)
