Maliciously Garbling and Misrepresenting Jesus

Many people lied about him, but their stories didn’t match. Then some stood up and falsely accused him, saying, “We heard him say, ‘I will destroy this temple built by people and in three days build another one that isn’t made by people.’” But even then, their stories didn’t agree. The false witnesses maliciously garbled and misrepresented Jesus' statements.

When you share the truth about Jesus today online or in person, you will hear the same kind of false accusations and distortions as in the past. Those who oppose the gospel still twist Jesus’ words, trying to mislead people who don’t know the Bible for themselves. Even some who claim to know the Bible manipulate its meaning to turn others away from the true message of Jesus Christ. These individuals are not serving God but are working for the father of lies—Satan.

If people don’t study the Bible for themselves, they become easy targets for deception. That’s why knowing Scripture is so important.

Hosea 4:6 – “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge; because you have rejected knowledge, I reject you from being a priest to me.”

2 Timothy 2:15 – “Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth.”

Deception is nothing new. Just as false witnesses distorted Jesus’ words in the past, people still twist Scripture today to mislead others. But God calls us to be vigilant, study His Word, and stand firm in the truth. Don’t be swayed by false teachings—know the gospel for yourself!

2 Peter 3:16 – “He writes the same way in all his letters, speaking in them of these matters. His letters contain some things that are hard to understand, which ignorant and unstable people distort, as they do the other Scriptures, to their own destruction.”

2 Corinthians 11:13-15 – “For such men are false apostles, deceitful workers, disguising themselves as apostles of Christ. And no wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light. So it is no surprise if his servants also disguise themselves as servants of righteousness. Their end will correspond to their deeds.” (They'll pay for it in the end.)

I get truely amazed at responces to amything about Jesus, God and even heaven. And this is not in a good way either.
Even here at Talk Jesus. Certainly we used to go back and forth a bit, like tugging on a rope, but nothing so absurd as you hear nowadays. And there seems to be a more viciousness to simple questions.

At a Truckstop yesterday, a man was playing religious type music videos, Opera mostly. It was relaxing.
But when the conversation went to religion, it was so foreign to me I just couldn't believe it.

The man talked about alien beings that would ascend to the skies as trying to quote from scripture things that were just so insane. He said oh yes I am religious, and we are all gods. ( as I rolled my eyes)

Truth spoken here. One of the biggest ways in which the truth of the Scriptures is being distorted today is by teaching the Scriptures out of context, willfully, deliberately, in order to deceive the naive and those who do not study the Scriptures for themselves. And this is one of the reasons why I stress context, because so many false truths are being taught by teaching the Scriptures out of context. Since it is Scripture, the people think it must be true, and that is where the deception really lies. And this is why I stress that we all study the Scriptures for ourselves, but in the appropriate context, even comparing Scripture with Scripture to see how they agree with each other when taught in context.
