Making a Way - July 10, 2007
I will.. make a way Isaiah 43:19
A peaceful little park was just up at the end of the street, so I took a little stroll up to check out the view of the water that morning. What a surprise to see a small pod of dolphins, rolling in the early morning surf. In what seemed like slow motion, they moved through the waters, and rolling in sync. I just stood watching, mesmerized by the grace of beauty of God's creation.
Sitting down for a moment on a nearby bench, the humming of a little bee caught my eye. What was it? A yellow jacket, maybe- It landed next to a small hole. Then it wiggled backwards, and flicked away the sand with its legs, sort of like a dog would dig a hole to bury a bone.
Each time the hole got a little tiny bit larger. I stuck a twig down the hole to see how far it went; a diagonal inch and a half long tunnel, about 1/4 inch in width. Maybe a way to make a nest, a place to lay eggs? Or maybe a way to hide from the heat of the day.
Sometimes I kick my heels, or drag my feet, and stir up some dust.....try and make a way for something I want to happen, materialize,or fix. When that doesn't work so well, which is often, I can pray.
Lyrics from a song I remember Don Moen singing: God will make a way, where there seems to be no way, He works in ways we cannot see, God will make a way for me. He will be my guide, hold me closely to His side; with each new day.........He will make a way.
Yes, I can ask the Lord to make a way for me. He is more than able, and ready and wiling. God will make a way. That's good news.
Fear not, for I have redeemed you ; I have called you by your name; you are Mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you, and through the rivers, they will not overwhelm you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned or scorched, nor will the flame kindle upon you. For I am the Lord your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior. I, am the Lord, and besides Me there is no Savior. Who makes a way through the sea and a path through the mighty waters. Do not remember the former things; neither consider the things of old. Behold, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs forth; do you not perceive it ? I will even make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert, to give drink to My people, My chosen. Is. 43 (v. 1-3,11, 16, 18-19)
