ISAIAH
When and where was it written? The book of Isaiah was written sometime during the ministry of Isaiah (approximately 740–701 B.C.). Since Isaiah's ministry was centered in Jerusalem, this is the most likely location of the book's origin.

JEREMIAH
Author: Jeremiah chapter 1, verse 1 identifies the Prophet Jeremiah as the author of the Book of Jeremiah. Date of Writing: The Book of Jeremiah was written between 630 and 580 B.C. Purpose of Writing: The Book of Jeremiah records the final prophecies to Judah, warning of oncoming destruction if the nation does not repent.

EZEKIEL
The book of Ezekiel was written during Ezekiel's captivity in Babylon. He prophesied from about 592 to 570 B.C. After being taken captive, Ezekiel settled with other Jews in a place called Tel Abib on the Chebar River (see Ezekiel 1:1–3.

587 BCE
FIRST DESTRUCTION OF JERUSALEM
On Tisha B'Av, 25 August 587 BCE or 18 July 586 BCE, the Babylonians took Jerusalem, destroyed the First Temple and burned down the city.

165 BCE
Daniel is actually a figure from the Babylonian exile. In fact, he spends his entire life in Babylon. But the Book of Daniel attributed to him is actually written during the Maccabean revolt. Most scholars would say it's written about the year 165 BCE.

  • Ezekiel is among the exiles in Babylon!
  • He sees visions of God!
  • Quite similar to Daniel!

Very insightful except you have adopted the Critical Schools dating of Daniel. In the story of when Jaddua the High Priest comes out and greets Alexander (written around 175 bc) he shows Alexander the prophecy of the four kingdoms which is from the book of Daniel (and obviously a copy from an earlier time). This is the apocryphal tradition. Josephus, in Antiquities attributes this to a dream Jaddua of Nehemiah's time which if true places Daniel even farther back.

- Well, i just had a look on the internet to put dates!
- It is just for people to visualize when Jeremiah, Isaiah, Ezekiel and Daniel wrote their books!
- It is more interesting to know if they were in exile or if it was before or after the destruction of Babylon!
I didn't check the dates precisely!

True, and important to know for whom the Prophets came. Many I have spoken to in the past did nor realize Ezekiel was prophesying from within Babylon!

- Yes, that's really essential to understand!

- Before the destruction of Jerusalem, they thought it would never arrived!

- That's what happens when everything is corrupted!

- And the Israelites were completely away from God!

- They used to kill God's prophets!

- Then in Babylon , they develop a Talmud which became more important than the Bible itself!

- Man's tradition!

- When Daniel wrote his book, Jerusalem was destroyed and he prayed for the reconstruction of Jerusalem!

- And God told him that Jerusalem would be rebuilt but then destroyed!

- They would never understand!

  • God tells Ezekiel to eat the scroll and fill his stomach with it!
  • In his mouth it is as sweet as honey!
  • But it is going to be different in his stomach!
  • The stomach helps digest food by mixing it with digestive juices and churning it into a thin liquid!
  • We must remember it is a message of condemnation!

Hebrew Streams: Ruach Studies

In rabbinic documents and many Messianic writings, ruach qodesh is alternately printed Ruach HaQodesh or Ruach HaKodesh or HaRuach HaKodesh. The "ha" prefix denotes the article "the." This indicates the phrase is to be rendered "the Holy Spirit." But this spelling—with the "ha" prefix—does not occur in the Hebrew Bible???
