Do not say, "Why were the former days better than these?" For you do not inquire wisely concerning this. Ecclesiastes 7:10

Have you ever gotten together with a group of old friends—maybe at some reunion—to catch up with one another and reminisce about your times together many years back? Those kinds of gatherings can be enjoyable because you get to see people you haven’t seen in a long time and share laughter and memories.

But they can also be frustrating if they cause you to look at your current experiences through the lenses of days gone by. As many have found out, that’s not a good thing.

It can be easy sometimes to find yourself living in the past and longing for what you remember as “better times.” That can be especially true when you feel dissatisfaction with the present or when you’re going through difficult circumstances. In times like these, you may find yourself feeling a sense of ingratitude for what God is doing in your life at present.

There’s nothing wrong with reminiscing, with thinking and talking about great times you’ve enjoyed in the past. You can remember those days fondly and even thank God for them. But you should never let your great memories of days gone by get in the way of living in what God has for you in the here and now.

"Thus saith the LORD, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls. But they said, We will not walk therein." (Jeremiah 6:16)

Do you think brother there is a conflict here or could it be a matter of perspective and or action being looked at for those being spoken to?

With the Love of Christ Jesus.
